May of been asked before.

Who polishes their work boots?
I polish mine ever every morning, or the night before.
Cleaned, laces checked, Kiwi polish.
My soles wear out before the stitching, zippers or laces do.
They get all sorts of crap spilled on them, mud, oil, paint, get scuffed,.
But every day I go to work in polished boots.
Might have something to do with my Catholic schooling.
This also goes for all my carpenters tools, they are cleaned, sharpened and maintained.
In a throw away world, it does pay to look after ya gear.
Anyway, just thought I'd ask.
BTW, just finished cleaning/polishing my boots.
Enjoy your day tomorrow guys & girls.

I wear suedes so no polish for me. They sometimes get a hose down

Hi,
After 6 years in the RAAF, no more polishing for me!
Clean and wax/oil yes, absolutely it serves a purpose and keeps them comfortable.

At boot camp I could not see the sense in a super shiny spit polish that was insisted on.
Squadron life was much more reasonable, only needed one pair of shiny boots for the monthly parody.
Cheers

No polishing for me as they are a suede finish, i get around 10 months out of my bots which i wear 7 days a week in all types of conditions.

Tools are the same, well looked after and kept sharp, not used as much as they used to be. Still have many of my tools which I started my apprenticeship with, 30 years on and the money spent back then have saved me in the long run

Would this be considered a 'cash grab' by the council

new council initiative here, everyone has to register their pool fence
$23 lodgement fee
$47 search fee
but you guys know we have a pool - yeah ... but now you need to register your fence too
every 4 years now pay your $80 like a good little citizen

NSW, has some 90 000 pools(2007 I recall).
It was I think 200 bucks to register ya pool at the time, then a yearly inspection, we pull oir pool out, screw giving anyone money to have a pool

That's cheap

$75 to lodge my pool that the council already know I have due to the application when it was built

At least $300 for a building inspector to come past and make sure that the fence and gates are all working correct. That's the money part of it, now for the stupidity part

At the rear of my place is a quarry which is full of water, i would estimate it to be 30m deep and guess what un-fenced, my neighbors all have dams, no fences as they are not required, it s a big money raking exercise. Might turn my pool in a pond for frogs to get out of the fines.

In Qld I need a certified pool fence for the outdoor spa bath, my fish pond is supposed to be fenced because it is over 300mm deep, and the cubby house requires council building approval because it is greater than 2.7m tall.....................

Guess that makes me a 3 times looser (dont tell the council where I live  >:D)

Friends of ours are on acreage out the back of the GC.

They've got a big U-shaped house, with a pool in the centre of the U, with a deck on 3 sides that you can walk out of any door, across the deck & straight in for a swim. The back of the house & pool / open end of the U are elevated above ground level so no-one can get in that way. Pool is totally invisible from outside the house.

When the pool laws came in way back when, they had to put a fence between the house & their pool, despite it not being accessible to anybody but family (& they didn't have young kids).

But, down beside the driveway, just inside the front 3-strand wire, fence, they also have a dam, 20 x 10 m's, 20' deep. Does that have to be fenced ??? No, because it's not a swimming pool! ::)

Because pools represent the biggest risk for toddlers for drowning.

The next age groups are spread across more types of water, but usually occur during swimming activities, eg current, exhaustion, rip tides etc.

Can this be serious?
The only way to clean it is to sink it.. nobody would get on it without a gun at their head ever again

School cleaners have been warned against accepting a job promoted as a "great opportunity to earn some good money" to clean a quarantine centre for the crew of the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan.

The job offer involves spending six days of cleaning in response to one of the largest coronavirus outbreaks outside China. More than 630 people aboard the ship have been infected with coronavirus, including two who died.

The United Workers Union said members who work as public school cleaners for the Broadspectrum cleaning company were approached on Monday with an offer to work for six days in Japan. Some workers said they were told by supervisors they would be cleaning the Diamond Princess.

One, who works in a NSW public school, asked if the supervisor was joking and what compensation they would receive if they contracted the virus.

Question in Victoria:
So son has P Plates for Auto here in Victoria - and wants to get manual license.

Can I just teach him in the Patrol which hes driven many klms on his "L's" before getting the P Plates.. - does he need a separate Learners permit, and would he display L plates or P plates?

Couldnt find Shit on Vicroads site.

Thoughts...

I believe its the same everywhere, you need a learners permit for the class of vehicle your learning to drive, and will need to display the "L" when driving that vehicle. Hence why you see L plates on a prime mover for someone stepping up from a rigid licence. But I'm from Qld, and you know we're 30yrs behind the times  ;D

I believe he just has to display L plates whilst under instruction in the Manual Car (driving under his P Licence).  He can book a re-test any time he feels competent.
