Borrow an Oztent Bunker (near Mackay, QLD)
« on: July 24, 2019, 01:25:05 PM »
this is a long shot, but you never know... :)

i am wondering if there any forum members near Mackay in QLD that have an Oztent (formally Jet Tent) Bunker?

if so, i was wondering if i could borrow it for a few days?

just looking at seeing if my boy would be OK in one of these?  if so, i might pull the trigger on two...

happy to swing a small bottle of gratitude (or something else) your way, for your trouble...

I'd lend you mine, but I'm not exactly in the Mackay area :)

I can tell you that because the roof is fairly high at the head end, I don't find it as claustrophobic feeling as most swags. It's also quicker to set up.
They are a good thing.

The specs state 17kg, which is not a lot until you have to cart it any distance, especially if you're a young fella.

he won't be carrying it himself... i'll do that...

he's autistic, so we want to try him sleeping in one first, before we buy... if we can...

Maybe if you drop into BCF they will let you take a floor model home for the night? You might have to pay a deposit or even the whole amount but on the basis you can get a full refund if it doesn’t work out.

Anaconda has a pretty good returns policy too. You get 28 days for change of mind but it is supposed to be unopened, unused, original packaging etc. i reckon if you explain the reason they will be cool with it.

What about a cheap swag and a stretcher...
About 1/4 the price of an 800 bunker. Then if it doesn't work, you could easily get ya $ back

King single should help the young bloke with plenty of space, $159 on evilbay

edit: Unit price: AU $165.50

not really interested in the swag/stretcher combo... seems a bit bulky for me...

bunker is about $450 at the moment and i'm happy to pay that for something that i can use for years to come...

Might have been worth talking to Tentworld as they are a sponsor, but your nearest is Townsville  :-[

I use an Exped Megamat self inflating mattress in my bunker. Even with that, the two of them together take up less than half the space of a swag and stretcher.
