Hi All,

Fairly new to this site but not to 4 wheel driving and camping.

I drive a 2005 T/D Terracan and tow a Camp-O-Matic Ranger GL hard floor camper trailer.

The vehicle has a 2 inch lift and dual batteries under the bonnet for the 80lt Waeco fridge/freezer in the back, as well as an Anderson plug for the C/T.

The C/T is an older model,( although it has full off-road suspension with Alko axle and huge 4 wd tyres,) with a double bed only, and would like to have a queen bed, but otherwise it is great. Large tool box at front, which I had made from checker plate aluminium, as well as gas bottle holders 2 x 4.5kg, and a water/fuel jerry can holder. 60lt water tank with hand pump feeds the pull-out kitchen with 2 x large gas rings as well as many drawers for cutlery etc...Plenty of spare space under the bed with 2 x very large and long pull out drawers, mains power inlet with circuit breaker as well as many 12 V outlets. We have a large annex roof permanently zipped/zippered to the side which provides enough room to keep out of the rain. LED lights on the rear make it visible in inclement weather.

Have enjoyed many many weekends and longer trips in it and NO complaints about towing or any other issues.

We normally have the 80 lt Waeco in the back of the car and also carry 2 x small gas canister operated bbqs. I also have 2 x large cast iron camp ovens but will be getting rid of them soon as there are less and less places that allow an open fire. I now use a Cobb and gas cooking, as well as a Bedourie oven with heat beads. I have spare hotplates etc... at all times in the tool box.

We carry a couple of small gas bottles for lighting only with extension poles.

During the many trips we have done, we have managed to 'trim' the amount of things we take, other than the hair dryer etc...hahahaha....

The only disappointing thing I've come across is the demise of many caravan parks due to developers buying up the beach front space and the lack of places where one can have an open fire, an issue I think will only get worse over the years. We have now looked at alternative ways of cooking, as in heat beads, but we rue the day when our grandkids will not be able to sit around a proper campfire.

And I can't believe the "Swagman" username hadn't been taken either.  Great choice.

Now where's the pics of the mighty Camp-o-matic out in the wild, where they thrive.

Ha bloody ha.... sorry I couldn't help myself, sorry........

I just love the outback and the bush, generally, along with all the good stuff that goes with it. I am now over 50 years old and have a really bad back but I try and get out there as often as I can.

I worked out west in Wilcannia for 3 and a half years, done lots of rescue from table drains etc....as well as lots of shooting and fishing. A GREAT time was had by all!!!

I have rebuilt lots of the older Series II and IIA Land Rovers and driven them out in the 'bush'. My theory was to have as much time out there having fun, as I could. In my 3.5 years there I had an awsome time, exploring the Darling River and the riversides. I have also done some camping in the Menindee Lakes area, along the river and the the lake. I also did a Maritime Cockswains licence course on the lakes etc....
