Much of notorious Gibb River  Road to be sealed, but authorities promise 4WD thrills will remain
ABC Kimberley
Posted Yesterday at 8:57am

But the Gibb River Road in remote northern Western Australia is getting a make-over that'll see about a third of the bush track bituminised.

The latest roadworks will seal the western and eastern ends of the "The Gibb", with small sections along the centre upgraded to allow safe overtaking and reduce flood damage in the wet season.

It will mean a third of the 660-kilometre track will be accessible in two-wheel drive vehicles.

I see in the news this morning we have done a deal with USA & England to run nuclear submarines.
All good, no problem with that............................
But, if we can use nuclear to run our new subs then why cant it run our power stations  ???

Must have missed something here.

Some of the locals down near ASC Subcorp at Osborne were complaining on the news last night, fearful of the nuclear subs going to be built there. These are the same people who would gladly make use of nuclear medicinal treatments if it meant saving their lives.

I think it is a good idea going to US made nuclear subs rather than French ones converted to diesel.

Implementation exceptionally poor though.

Politics gets in the way of so, so many decisions in Australia, both state and federal. This is simply just another example.

Should be bought complete, ready to go immediately, then develop maintenance facilities where the subs will be based NOT SA, with the lead time provided by already operational subs this is entirely feasible.

Building them here in SA just about guarantees huge cost and time over-runs.

Still would be wondering where they are going to get crew from!

We cant afford to run the ones weve already got .. let alone 12 new nuke tech ones ..Might get to see the 1st nuke sub hull launched in about 10 to 12 years time, if we're lucky ..
Considering its been roughly 6 years and they still havent 1/2 built a frog diesel one ..
Might have to get China to build them in sections and just assemble them  here .  ;D ;D

I thought the plan was to rent some until the new ones are ready.

I’m not sure where you go to rent a nuclear submarine. France maybe?
