Yep..... that's pretty close to how it should look.

I had to do a little bit on the pool this morning.  ???
Still haven't finished that.

Then i sold off a few bits on Marketplace. LOL.

Of the original $2,000 purchase of Marvin, i've now sold around $500/$600 worth of unwanted stuff.
Still plenty to be sold off yet too.

Apart from the massive amount i'm spending, the car will owe me less than a $1,000.
Ha ha ha.... that makes sense to me.

OK.... as i said the day.... some things are hard to make sound fun.

I've been sorting chrome mouldings and Shit for days.

Off to see Mum tomorrow, but dropping the side trims off in Ippy for some loving.

I had a need to go and see Old Al today, to get 2 windscreen trims for Marvin. ($20 for the two)
Also came home with a pair of 1959 Ford Dealer supplied alloy number plate frames. ($14 for the two)

Ya gotta keep these ol girls period correct.
I gave one a quick touch up and it came up nice.
With some effort, they will look Shit hot.

Tuesday, is start making brake lines day..... so is wed, thurs and fri.

Plate surround looks great.  I'm surprised that the number plates are still the same size and corners match

I hadn't really thought about it fitting or not.

The standard plate hasn't changed over all those years.

They were sitting in the boot of the ol green Shitter i got the moulds from.
The screens were out and sitting on the back seat with the trim on top.

I actually spied, some head light rims, so we got the boot open to check the rims out.

The plate frames are a very soft alloy and had a bit of a twist and bend in both.
I wrapped a piece of timber in clothe used that as an anvil.
With delicate tapping..... the results were good.... i was happy.
I also used a pair of pliers with the jaws wrapped in masking tape for some tricky bits.

The stumps around the car, are for the original house.
Way back when, apparently a shocker of a storm came through the deposited the house in the yard.  :D

Must've been a long time ago.....Al's house these days is older than dirt.

A ton of cool Shit there..... really old stuff, he wont part with.
He's a fukkin grumpy ol kent too, swears worse than me, curses every bastard.... hates idiots with a passion and will tell them so.
Him and i get on so  well together..... i visit him, he drops in here..... go figure huh.

There's lots of us playing with our Barra's.  :D

OK, blame FOO for this boring as bat Shit report/update.

I've got Shane's flaring tool and pipe bender..... the flaring tool is a hoot.
Not so much the pipe bender..... Shanes been bending Shit in it and its as loose and wobbly as 50 year old hooker.

Couple of test hits with the flare tool on some scrap..... and let loose with the R/F line.
OH DEAR.... got it made and in place.... its a bit average.

Went to Gatton to buy a new bender...... Brake and clutch guy......NO
Over to Autopro...... NO..... but we have one out the back we never use.
No good to me here.....  ???
Take the fukkin thing home and use it.... we won't need it.
Ya sure.
Yes, just drop it back when ya done.

So, it will be take two today.

I'll need to mount the line lock today for the rear brakes first up.
Then i'll get the rear line done as far as the line lock.
Then its the L/F line, which i'll do in 2 sections with a joiner in the middle.
It could be done on one piece, but about 20 times harder, as the line goes in and out a 100 times while getting the shape correct.
(it does when i do it at least)

So yesterday, to sum up, i fitted 2 flexible front hoses and made one hard line.

Blame Foo

Here's one i prepared earlier.... 1985.

What about using a bit of fence wire or braising rod to feed in and work out the angle of the dangle, then use that as a template/jig on the bench?

Yeah, already using wire as a template.

Huge deference still, between wire and a hard line, but ya do need something to work off.
The line end section can't be bent until the double flare is done, or it doesn't go into the flaring do-dad.

It has to go down the inner guard, across the cross member then up again to the flexible pick up point.
It also has to tuck up between the rack and the cross member.
It's by far, the biggest pain in the arse line to do.
It'll end up with a very discrete little joiner in the centre.

BUGGER.... 6 metres of brake line gonski......  ???

Ordered another 6 for pick up tomorrow.

Not going too bad..... sort of.

The L/F line is going to the front of the cross member for a neater/easier fit.
It'll end up as a one piece line now too, behind the X member would be nice and out of the road.
But flat out a pain in the arse.

Front flexible lines are all retained and clipped.
Lock to lock, we have good clearance off everything.
Line lock is mounted.
Line from Master to line lock is in.
Line lock to rear T piece is cut, just awaiting some shaping/flares and nuts.

Must've got up and down around 40 or 50 times today..... fukkin aching now.

Be nice with a hoist, hoists cost money, money we don't got.

Not really, you need all the Shit in place to know where to go and you'd never tip it up with all the extra weight.
It would be easier yes, but would never work for a one man band.

Foo, the guy where i get the line from already knows it was a Foo Up...... so there.   :P

Pisser...

I do believe, the 3 way union for the top of the diff is the wrong one.
That brought everything to a grinding halt until Monday now.

The front stuff turned out ok in the end.

Oh well, i've been assured, the union is correct and the one to use.
Even the mechanic/fitter guy came out and said that s the go.

I still think it could be better, and with more threads of engagement..... but, its on and done.

Tomorrow now, can see the diff swung down to full hang mode to test the length of the braided line.
To remove the back wheels, which i now need to do, the diff has to swing.
The penalty you have to pay sometimes, in the pursuit of using a street car as a drag car.  :D

So, drop the bottom bolt for the shock, the roller pin on the sliders and down she goes.
I can then test the line for length, as we need to be able to do a wheel change.
I'll bung the calipers on tomorrow and make the last 2 hard lines and some brackets to secure them.

Last couple of weeks have been a mixed bag as far as progress goes..... but every single day, i achieve something on Marvin.

We've come a long way since the ol cardboard firewall.

These brake lines are becoming bigger than Ben Hur. LOL.

Popped the rear calipers on to do the last two hard lines.
The old 2007 Falcon set up runs a flexible hose at the caliper.

I need to do the same..... which was in the back of my mind anyway.

I need to unbolt the caliper (it mounts at 9:00 on the left, 3:00 on the right) and take it forward to remove them for maintenance, brake pads, replace a busted axle....  ;D  Shit like that.

By making a fairly simple bracket, i can bring the hard line to the bracket, then from there, a simple braided flex line.
The  bracket mounts off one of the caliper bolts.
So, i've got a sample of what i need made and off to Gatton in the morning.

The lines aren't overly costly, the trillion trips to town in the Fleetwood is.  ???
It would've been nice to do it all in one go, but i find that while going section by section is slower.... I'm more accurate with less wastage.

I made a fairly rude mounting set up to contain the 3 lines off the master cylinder the other day.
No skill involved, but it worked and was a bit ugly.
Today i started on a nicer set up to make it look a tad neater.
The 700 long rear flexible hose is a hoot.
I can drop the arse and no issues with the line going tight.
I'll get some hose tomorrow for the diff breather and see how good/neat i can make that look.

Haven't taken any pics, nothing really to see.... but if i don't post.... my mate Foo gets up me.

Maybe some pics in a day or two huh.
