Ideas for trips away with Fam
« on: October 27, 2019, 10:02:11 AM »
Hi all,  My wife and I and kids and I are off  down Wombene Caves way at Crissy, then next year in June, July holidays off up the Cape do the tip and a few Tommy tourist things up there before we can not walk out there like the Rock, Then I am out of Ideas as my Wife would not like to do any dessert runs, mite do the Darling river run next year, We love to free camp were there are not that many people. We have done the GOR, the Dinosaurs run, Darwin this year, all out through the west of QLD and NSW, and Vic, Would love to do south AUs and the west Aus but a long way in 16 days, any Ideas, Not fans of farm stays or 4wd parks as been farming and driving and working on 4wds all my life,  Thanks Craig

Might be a few gems to be had free camping  the TSR's  of different areas CT .  https://janhawkinsau.wordpress.com/2014/01/25/freecamping-travelling-stock-routes-tsr/      ....    https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/land/access/stock-routes/about       ....    https://trade.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=dd585551cd5c4320bfcd2d671d8f2364    ....   This one has some good hints >>>    https://www.caravanersforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=47968     ...
We just wandered along the TSR's over around Moree for a couple of weeks many years ago, found some nice water holes and some  arteasian bore ponds that had been made into nice swimming holes by the locals over the years, no one bothered us ..

Could do a couple of weeks from South Ballina down through Yuraygir NP https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/visit-a-park/parks/yuraygir-national-park or   https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/visit-a-park/parks/nymboida-national-park     ....  Kev has got a whole Encyclopedia  full of good trips  here  https://woolgoolgaoffroad.blogspot.com/

We did a run a couple of years ago that may be of interest.

Bris - eulo - Currawinya NP - hungerford - Wanaaring- tibooburra - Cameron corner - strez track - flinders ranges, broken hill, Darling river run, Bourke - brisbane.

Highly recommend. Not quite desert but close enough for the good bits.

Good luck with the planning, that’s half the fun.
