Title: A couple of new Mexicans
Post by: 2sideways on May 02, 2015, 04:28:23 PM
Hi all,
Long time lurker, thought we'd better join up as we've just purchased a new (to us) camper.
This forum has already been a wonderful source of knowledge for us so I hope we can share a few helpful bits and pieces as we go along too.
I like the fact that the forum members here are so friendly and helpful (none of the 'my rigs bigger than yours' attitude which is nice).

Heading off with the Minister for War and our two boys in a couple of months through the Centre and around the West.
Plenty of prep to be done on both the new tow rig and camper - the clock's ticking......

Thanks for having us aboard and I hope we can contribute positively.

Cheers, Steve

Thanks for the welcome.
We really wanted a late model Goldstream Wing 3 with all the fruit but couldn't find the right combination or they were a bit beyond our budget.
Ended up with a current shape Jayco Swan Outback with a heap of mods/extras.
Now to break out the Mig, the liquid nails and screws etc to hopefully beef it up a little.

Normally if heading bush, we go with a roof-top camper but given the extended nature of this trip, a little more comfort was required for the good lady wife.
I'm sure the Swan will be fine for this trip but will just have to go a bit easier on some parts up north so it won't rattle it's fillings out.

My tow rig is a little different from the norm I guess - a modded TRD supercharged Hilux that is pretty 'entertaining' to drive >:D

Cheers, S

Thanks for the nice welcome everyone.
The GLW is keen to read up on van prep for our trip as she's not had much time 'under canvas' (though a Swan is hardly roughing it IMO...........)
My boys and I have enjoyed the beauty of our fabulous country with the 'no frills' approach and just love it but the GLW is a bit of a 5 star girl.
I'm sure after a few months on the road she will be fine. :D

Cheers, S
