You had better believe it, it didn't take much to make a lot of new friends and put faces to names. B

Hey all,
Glad to hear you all made it home in one piece.See there was another fatal near Taree on Sunday night. As they say, better to be a bit late than dead on time. I think it was pretty close to 1:00pm when we left Kylies, parked at home about 5:15pm including a stop for some KFC at Kempsey. Thanks again to all for a top trip, thoroughly enjoyed it.   Bevan.

I saw so many idiots driving in the rain i am surprised there weren't more. Especially when i saw about 4 marked and 5 (maybe 6) unmarked cars between Crowdy and Maitland. Interesting thing though, I got 3 separate phone enquiries about the camper from others also stuck in the traffic (from the number on the side). So I guess its not all bad.

I made it home around 2030hrs last night. Drove through the longest rain depression ever! almost 1300kms of light rain and drizzle and 80kms of torrential rain in the last stint from Clermont to Moranbah.

Once again it was great to meet everyone and well worth the effort to come down. Looking forward to doing it again sometime in the not so distance future. Anyway I will have a look at what photos / video i have and try an post it later today.
Cheers
Brett

We've mastered the 'nappy change' in various conditions, with a 7 month old and a 18 month old both filling the things regularly, it's now like a precision pit stop.

"Wipes.. Check, Cream.. Check, Nappy... Check, Nose Peg... Check"  ;D

On one occasion, the canvas seat cover (because you need a flat bed of such we tend to use the passenger seat) got spray painted and I spent the next half hour of my life washing it off in an icey cold Victorian High Country fresh water creek. The poor platypus down stream didn't feel too crash hot that day...  8)

Diggin up. ;D Not roo but a bit of goat, lamb, Pork, veges n bits. The stuff right next to the rocks cooked well and the rest was finished of in the camp ovens. All up it was a great event. Don't let BigJules tell you anything else. We all though it was a ripper idea. :cup:

I have to agree with Snow. Jules put in a top effort with dinner despite things like wood that wouldn't light, rocks that exploded and worst of all, all us p*ssed clowns giving 'expert' advice.
I'd say with what was learnt the next one will work a treat.

Yeh, all up it went together all right, it was just the materials were not to specification. We needed a shallower longer pit, more 'non expanding' river rocks, seasoned wood, wet hession and longer in the ground. The P*issed up experts were right on spec though, doing it to perfection. ;D

The hangi was a bloody debacle, but I'm glad we gave it a go. My biggest disappointment was that it delayed everyone's meal, not that the hangi did not complete the task.

Thanks to all who participated, and to those who offered advice, I think you'd agree that I (we even) took on some of the advice. I really enjoyed the prep, with many people providing input and assistance. Also, thanks for keeping cool, and getting all the food into camp ovens to finish off. Muchos gracias to Darren here.

I'll take responsibility for the failure, as in my eagerness and with an obsession about getting on with it, I withdrew the rocks prematurely, allowing them to cool too much before we got the food in. Possibly not enough steam producing materials as well.

I will have another go, but not on so grand a scale. Then, bring your roasts 'cause we'll have another go  ;)

Absolutely, plus you should make sure he starts promoting the fact that a woman can put one up on her own, with a couple of small kids  in tow  ;D

How about at Upper Colo. Practice makes for good results. If we can find some 'non expanding' rock that is. ;D
