Gator Grip sockets.
« on: November 30, 2011, 09:10:46 AM »
Hi
Does anyone have any thoughts on the Gator Grip sockets?
I have a bolt holding a speed sensor on the brakes, and the head is stripped of usable grip.
Access to the bolt for an easy out is not practical, and if the gator Grips actually work, it is worth a try before stripping the whole brake assembly off the axle
Vice grips and even stilson's won't budge the bolt, even after applying some heat.
I could use a small angle grinder to put some edges on the bolt head for grip if it would help.
Cheers
Ian

I've got some Metrinch sockets which are supposed to grip the flat not th edge and find them to work in that situation, Although it depends how bad the head is. If you have tried heat, vice grips and stilsons it sounds like it is really stuck and may need stripping anyway.
