G'day Shane, do you know if a winternats ticket is a day pass or an event pass? We been getting the kids interested in the drags out here lately (watching that is) & wouldn't mind taking them for a look next year.

Both mate,
Any day you want or a 3 or 4 day pass.

As Jeepers said, both.

The Winters is definitely the best meet of the year, but the Aeroflow Series is awesome too.

Depending on the age of the kids, Jamboree is also well worth a visit. I'm not a fan of Hiroshima Screema's but they are quick and fast! Jamboree is one of the best organised drag racing events in the country. It's one helluva show  ;D

Hi all great thread. I'm currently 5 months into a 7 month camping trip. Down the bottom of WA at the moment. Anyway jump on over to Facebook and like our race car page. Big news coming early 2017 so if you are into drag racing give the page a like. Thanks.

That's a big hit  :(
Good to see he's walking.

On a brighter note, I heard it was an all Aussie NFC final over there? Begg's and someone else?

Beggley driving for bailey brothers didn't qualify. John Capps (us driver) driving for russos were 16th qualifier but pretty sure they got knocked out in the last qualifier so also didn't make the field. Baileys did an awesome job even though they didn't make the field at the 2 events they contested

Have a go at the wind up flex in the chassis once it left the 60' mark, It must have ridged its back a good four inches . ;D

How was Graham's last quote  ;D

I was a 17 year old standing on the hill mid track that day.

Was also there the following year when Agius and Carter had the massive nitro FC crash.

Calder used to be packed to the rafters in the 90's for the drags. Pity old Bob Jane had little interest in drags, it was the only financially viable thing at Calder.

Although Bob did put up a 100K prize for the first fueller to break 300mph in the late 90's. Darren Difillipo on the last run of the night at Calder in 98ish, solo pass he ran a 298.5mph.
Next week Bob withdrew the prize....

The stands have never been as full at at track since the 90's.
It's a pitty, because the tracks, cars and bikes are much faster now.

I don't think Bob Jane had an issue with drag racing as such, I believe it was ANDRA and/or the politics behind it.
Drag racing at Calder would have lined his pockets just nicely ;D

Problem was you paid top dollar to watch at Calder and the facilities were crap. No shade and no where to sit in the middle of summer. Yet 400m away Bob spent a fortune on the thunderdome with upgraded seating and new lights, etc.  Not a cent got spent on the strip and circuit facilities.

Add to it no drag strip in Sydney for 8 odd years hurt massively for sponsorship and TV coverage. The crowd favorite nitro funny car disappeared, fueler fields shrunk and teams running on shoe strings meant you rarely saw a full throttle side by side pass.

Melbourne has had nothing for 15 years now. Hard to recover from that.

Bob Jane and ANDRA mixed like oil and water.
