Saw some other Head Muppet on the news tonight from the Com games...apparently we just need "to get over it and move on" were his words....guess they are hoping people just forget about the stuff ups so they can get another plum job elsewhere now this has finished. Pretty sure the people that waited for hours for public transport to get to the Opening Ceremony, would be stoked to hear how much these people likely got paid for this games gig.

I agree.
a bucket load of tax payers money was used to put on 2 fairly sub standard shows....the people that ok'd it should be held responsible IMO. Nothing will come from doing that, but atleast make them squirm a little over what should have been highlights of the games, but instead weren't.

they blow 100's of millions on "bids" for olympics, world cup diving soccer that we never stand a chance of getting, but it gives several people jobs on ridiculous pay rates for 12 mths... I just accept they blow money these days.. nothing will ever change - how can it? Corruption goes above the top these days

IMWO the C games are just a poor cousin to the olympics and as many people give a **** about both.

As much as I don't like the guy, Peter Beattie has done way more for Queensland than any other politician in living memory.

First, there was the .... um, and then the..... hmmm, don't forget, he managed to..... Oh, no he didn't.
OH OH OH, he did fix the ..... oh, nup, that was someone else....

Oh man, lets face it, he's a fukkin dickhead of the highest order. When he does that stupid grin on camera, ya just wanna land a short right jab, straight in his face.

Having gone to two days of events, Athletics and Rugby, I wouldn’t do it again if it See you soon till meant taking an hour and a half to walk 250m from the stadium. The events were great but the transport issue still sucks big time. Not that those of us who live in SEQ would have foreseen that being an issue. (Insert sarcasm emoji here).

make them squirm like I said is about all we can do....if you do nothing they think they did a great job, seeing these people on National tv admitting they got it wrong atleast might make the next person running such an event have a think about how to do it right.

So, Mr Beattie, Mr Peters - you openly admit you stuffed it up big time? OK, that's very good of you - that will be a non-performance charge of 25% of your "earnings" connected to the Games, thanks very much >:D

Apparently Beattie is off to the next olympics.  Red hot favourite to pick up gold in the heavyweight wanker division... :cup:

This is beyond a joke..

US agency Jack Morton, which has offices in Sydney, was paid a whopping $46 million for its work on the Gold Coast, The Daily Telegraph reports. The four hours of opening and closing ceremonies work out to cost $191,000 a minute.

I don't get this mind set we have in Australia that we are prepared to spend as much coin on sport that the likes of countries do that have 10, 20 times our population, to make out we are better.
Seariously thst is a ####ed way of doing things.
Us tax payers are not a bottomless pit of cash.
At some piont it has to be paid back.

If I managed my household/business the same way these retards manage the country/states/local councils, I'd be on the dole tomorrow.

I don't like the fact that the NSW government are happy to spend $2bil on two stadiums that no fans want to go to. Allianz is too far and the traffic is a nightmare. ANZ is expensive to park and traffic is also terrible plus it's only 20yrs old.. I can only imagine how many ambos, nurses and doctors etc that could be paid with that money
Bought a what?

Then Party B comes out with, "We are going to build a tunnel to ease the traffic.
We are building it where we think the public need it, and we're starting it now.
Not where Party A wants it.
As well as a Tunnel to add to the Railway Network and Underground Loops."
And this'll put Victoria into 'Hock' for how long?????

Hehehehe gotta love major infrastructure projects for governments  i was working for the port of Melbourne on their port capacity project at Webb Dock. We finished the project 6 months early and a couple of hundred million under budget and had the current treasurer come and thank the project team off the record lol he wasn't allowed to offer us any praise on the record as it was the previous governments policy lol.

See Starbucks are closing 8000 stores for an afternoon for training staff. Apparently 2 dark skin gents were siting in a store waiting for a friend when the staff called the cops, they didn't like the look of them. Every man and his dog turned up and arrested them. Others in the store were saying " their just sitting there, doing nothing". They were taken back to the station, questioned and then released. Ah America, land of the free, home of the brave. Better to be white than black.
