Simple 12v water pump
« on: March 02, 2017, 04:02:02 PM »
Iam after 12v water pump for the Cruza just want it like the van pump but lower flow. So I just switch it on and when I turn the tap on it flows? Is that what these do ? Or do they need a pressure switch?  I can't work it out.

Here for a good time, not a long time!

Sticker says Pressure-35psi cut off so presumably it's a pressure activated pump, albeit self priming.
What you want is an inline centrifugal /submersible pump that is naturally primed(ie the inline is below the tank) unless you have it connected to a manual pump like my Jayco Lowboy which also acts as a drainback valve.
There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

I have one of those setup to two switches (one being a master, other being a switch in the tap itself). Master goes on when I get to camp. Switch in tap comes on when I turn it on and activates the pump.

As a rough guide,

Battery > Fuse > Master Switch > Tap > Pump.

Hope that helps.

Yeah thanks sort of but I want it pressure operated not by a switch

That's defiantly a pump with a pressure switch on the top/bottom of it. Will be noisy but will do the job. Looks like it might even have an adjuster on it for pressure.

I'll clarify that. The pressure differential at which it activates.

Just checked the shed. I have a 5 LPM one of these I used once but found it too noisy for the camper. Yours for the price of postage from melbourne if you want it.

Geez thanks mate no worries sort something. Yeah it's to go in the Cruza to fill the occasional billy. Noise won't be an issue .
