um .. excuse me Mr Yogi ... :-[

Do people take their own shower tents to put beside their campers ?

And do they take their own toilet tents and dig holes at the back of the camp ?

Or do we just keep doing drives to the toilet amenities ?

Currently we are allowed to have our own shower / toilet tents on Fraser Island ..... we like to make sure they are a good distance from camp and usually dig a very deep hole and fill it with lime after each use. Plus we have the use of very close flushing toilets and hot showers ..... that seems to keep some people happy ..... hello sweaty ;D

POD ..... you may note that puppies have pink lips ..... after sun exposure they start to turn black ........ unfortunately it's the precursor to cancer in your pup but totally natural :-[

Thank you, Yogi, Sir.

Your time and diligence is appreciated by more than just my humble self.

Another, if you will: Why is it that one who has such a tough looking four wheel drive has a gay looking Mazda as his avatar?

Humbly, sir  . . . . .

Well 700+Hp and zero to 200kph in under 10 seconds means I have just as many sphincter moments in the gay Mazda as I do in the 80 series .... just one is cheaper than the other ;D

All very good! Thank you Yogi Sir, for fielding my questions!

All jokes aside, those going, ask away, there is a wealth of info on here that should help you through the harder times of Fraser to make sure you enjoy it.

Tyre pressures? Tide times? How much is ULP? Deisel? LPG? BBQ gas? Can you buy meat on the island? Are eels from Eli Creek good eating or do I stick with the prawns? Can I perve on topless chicks without fear of retribution from their burly, tattoo laden hubbies??

Top idea Yogi, McGirr, maybe you shoul throw open a similar thread?

Wish I was going on both trips!

If you look on the Cape Trip thread I have put all the information in separate threads to make it easy for members to reply and ask related questions.. ;D

If your going to be fishing for tailor you probably want at least 10ft. I use an Alvey reel mainly so there esier to clean and if fishing with the Mrs easier to untangle the mess.

Ill probably take a 12 ft and a light rod for whiting if there are some decent gutters.....my kids inhale whiting fillets so if I can bag a few of them that'll keep them well fed.

As for a reel I've got a older 500 something or other thats still goes good. Stainless backing plate........pretty much unkillable.

Yogi never needs much of a reason for a new rod but yogi was commenting tonight that he is going to start a new topic regarding beach fishing gear - as he always says he isn't an expert but can only suggest items he has or has used.  Generally yogi averages 4 rods each one having a slightly different set up and none are mine (I just don't have the patience for fishing) but enjoy watching from the dune, my job is delivering the nice cold beverages   Yogi does like his Alvey setups as commented by Nomad easy too clean etc. at the beach.

Can someone please provide some advise on the following as i have never camped on sand let alone Fraser.

Looking at sand pegs and a search on the net offers so many varieties, ie lengths, plastic and alloy. Any recommendation what would suit where we are camping?

Also feet for the trailer stays and plates for the poles. Just cut up some ply or can someone recommend what i should get and where?

Thanks

Hey Neil , good to see you are in our group for hitting the Island ....

Don't forget the tip I saw on here once , about taking the green Coles bags and filling them with sand to act as anchors on your ropes .

I think I'll try that , although I do have the four blade plastic sand pegs to take as well . And from foggy memory , they are about 350 or 400 long .

See Ya , Darryl.

Neil we have camped on sand many of times. We initally used the long metal pegs, about 400 long, now moved onto large/long yellow plastic pegs from BCF.  I have found they are just as good, but alot lighter in weight.  For the poles and legs, we use a bit of solid ply wood.
cheers

Niley,
Mate we take two full sets of the 350 mm and 500 mm plastic X star type. as some times you can get a site with a bit of grass cover, then can use the shorter pegs for all but the main corner points, using the longer ones on the corners, as insurance against bad weather .... Or if your unable to get a grassy site the longer ones in a full sandy site ..

We use the medium and large pegs .... try Supapeg Sand Pegs they are Australian made ect ect

They also make round sand supports suitable for your kitchen legs, poles ect.
