Height of Jayco

Hi,

I have recently ordered a 2011 Swan waiting for delivery in July. I week down and it is killing me already. I want my new toy!!
Anyway, I am hoping some knows the approximate height of a Jayco Swan Outback when open, ground to roof top. I am hoping I can open at home under the shade sails on my patio area. This will make life easier for packing before heading away. I have around 2.5m to play with. If anyone has any ifo that would be appreciated.

As per my sig, I have a '10 O/B Hawk.  It's stored in the carport, which is also has around 2.5m clear height to work with.
I can wind up about half way, but that is with a roofrack.  This is high enough to slide the bed ends out (but not prop them open) and go inside to pack things no dramas.
Also means I can dry out canvas if it is packed away wet - only half way up means I just hang out the canvas side over the side of the camper.  ;D  

The open height on mine is near enough to 3m (2.9m excluding the roof rack)

Thanks Nutto for the info. I could always pull down the shade sails but probably couldn't be stuffed.

Hi all,

In the last edition of CT Australia, they did a review on a 2011 Eagle. It said that one person armed with a ladder could put the thing up.

Why do you need a ladder. Would love to hear from any Jayco outback owners if they use a ladder or would find the set-up easier with a ladder. Would rather not pack more crap than necessary.

The only thought I had was the ladder is to be used for the canvas flap over the lifters.

Look forward to some comments.

What the hell do they need a ladder for?

I do have a small plastic folding step/stool that I used with the Swan to reach top of lifter laps.

My 10' Outback Eagle needs 3.1m to wind up with factory roof racks.
My shed is 3 m tall so i let the air out of the tyres!!

I am not sure why you need a ladder, I am vertically challenged and we carry a milk crate to use when needed.

As far as the height for opening up in the shed etc, I often open mine out the front of the house but don't wind it all way up.  I just open up enough to be able to walk around without hitting my head.

The ladder part had me puzzled. I am waiting for my swan to arrive and starting to get stuff together. Just thought it was an interesting comment and going through the setup in my head couldn't see where you would need a ladder.

In saying that however, I have seen people using a ladder to put their bag awning up.  Some people put the Jayco up, full extension and then use the ladder to put the poles etc in.

Before we got ours we had a holiday in the old camper in a caravan park.  We spent two weeks stalking Jayco owners watching them set up to work out the best way to put it all up.

My wife is the awning specialist but basically we wind about a quarter the way up and the all poles etc connected up, we then wind up and just extend the poles as we go.  Works for us.
