thinking of buying this, need opinons and maybe someone to look at it 4 us

Trailer itself normally very robust, just check the canvas for any rips or tears ( especially the midge screens ).....then screw the price down a bit and you should have a very good camper !!

so thats all i should look for? no rusty spots or mildew spots i should look for? my old man is looking at it for me, he used to build elite motor homes until he got ripped off and lost the fmily business, he is a very smart bloke but i just wanted some info to give him to look at certian spots etc.
im also keen on rossbarbs kimberley in the for sale section but i am waiting on pics, there asking price is alot higher though

I would be inclined to front up & check it out , If you cant see it , or it sounds dodgey RUN .  Just cause its on Evilbay dont mean its real  >:D >:D >:D >:D :cheers:

its on the trader, dad is going to look at it tomorrow. does anyone know what the atm are on these units as well as the tare?
how do those hydrolic brakes work? i never did much research on them as i figured that any camper i would get would have electric or nothing at all

According to the rego papers for my 2006 platinum the Tare Weight is 1000kg and the GVM is 1600kgs. Ours has the electric hydraulic brakes, they are the best type of brakes to have on trailer (IMO), they dont care if they get wet etc and they work very well. There is small container of brake fluid on the drawbar that feeds a hydraulic system that operates the disc brakes. I think there is a list of reccomended controllers on the kimberley website somewhere, but you should be fine with most of the modern name brand controllers.

Tare on that model would be approx 800 to 850KG....although with a full load of batts it could be a touch higher ( they don't say )

If it's been looked after, the trailer should have no issues, only the condition of the canvas..

The old boy checked it out today, reckons it's in good nick too, only a few marks and stone chips and also the canvas was a little faded, any ideas on what it's worth?

does anyone know what is involved with changing the stud pattern over on a kimberley? im assuming its a stub axle and disc swap???has anyone done this and if so what was the cost involved?

If the change is for stud pattren only then not too bad $$$ but if like me you wanted to change to a different offset like from independant crusier rims to live axle . You will very quickly decide that its not that important. It costs SHI* loads....

You could ask the owner to take to SEQ campers who are kimberley agents and have them do a pre purchase inspection for you. Well worth it I think as thats alot of coin to miss something really important. And it can give you a good barganing position if things need attention.

Why worry about either ?? do you want to do extreme offroad ?? what sort of 4wd do you have ??

I will be towin it with our 80 series. No extreme stuff but I just wanted the same stud pattern as the car to save on extra spare tyres etc. Will be doing some cape trips and hopefully desert travel

If its a standard KK it will have 15" 6 stud wheels which will fit straight on your 80 series....even offset should be pretty close.....no need to worry ..

one of the other campers im looking at has 100 series poverty pack (105 i think) offset hubs and stud pattern, i was hoping to get some 6 stud hubs, got a quote from kimberley incase any one is wondering $330 per side plus bearing kit at $95 per side
so i was hoping some one might have a 6 stud setup and want to swap to 100 series pattern cos they have a 100 series?? wishful thinking maybe??

our KK has 5 stud landrover wheels on it - the cost of changing to them to match the Prado was ricdiulous, 3 new tyres, 3 new wheels, 2 new hubs, 2 new suspension arms. Was cheaper just to buy a second spare for the Prado.
