Just a couple more, including the car its going in.

A quick hit with some matt clear and the outside paint is done.

We have a full rubber kit on hand, to go with the new suspension, brakes and steering.
The interior will be as ratty as the outside.
This ol tub will be as safe as houses to drive, but its gunna draw some dirty looks in the traffic.

Some pics on the previous page as well.
I DON'T CARE HOW NICE THE HAND SOAP SMELLS.....

You should never walk out of the public toilets sniffing your fingers.

So the shed tidy up involved a trip to the tip, in that load I threw the old firepit as the leg supports were rusted., but that has meant no fire for the last week or so. I have always wondered if the 3mm perforated aluminium sheet that my brother left here over 10yrs ago would work for a firepit, or if the aluminium would melt due to the heat.

Well, tonight I get to find out, I think it will look better once the white powder coast burns off (before it possibly melts  :o), the bass is stainless from the camper kitchen from when made the cutout for the stove. All things considered it cost me nothing but time

So how'd it go, TA ???

Did it work, or turn into a little puddle of molten aluminium ???

Walked in ti my shed,
Added more empties to the mounting pile that needs to be taken to the 'Return & Earn' machines.
They are closed, Covid19.
Maybe when this ends, It(10 cents a item) might pay for the Ferry ride to Tas for our next National Meet :)

Finished these this morning, customer order for his earth moving office, prime mover, dolly, drop deck just on 1350mm long, grader and scraper approx 475mm long.
Drop axle on prime mover behind sleeper, grader blade rotates and lifts, scraper bucket tilts and opens. About 35 hours work in total.

Bank manager just rang,
He said if I was planning a trip,
"Don't go any further than the driveway"
Bastard :(
Come Saturday morning at 6am, I will be standing at my driveway, as a show of respect.
Since we can't attend the dawn service in Lawrence, as I have done for nearly 21 years.
Take care Mate.

Pottsy, that is absolutely brilliant. You are indeed a craftsman. Do you leave them raw or give them a light coating of linseed oil?

Hi Robbo, I coat them with a beeswax/mineral oil mix that I make, 1 part beeswax to 4 parts mineral oil by weight creates a soft polish. I brush it on, leave for 10 minutes and then rub and wipe off with paper towel. Reduce mineral oil ratio for a harder polish.
Non toxic, so ideal for toys.

Come Saturday morning at 6am, I will be standing at my driveway, as a show of respect.

Yep, we'll be doing the same.

Have the Last Post, a minute silence, then Rouse taped from when I ran the Dawn Service, so will hook them up to a portable speaker & also run that. Won't be loud, but should sound good.

Isolation project(s)

Not in the shed and not today (about 5 weeks worth, of which 90% was waiting between coats of Sikkens to dry), but did involve workshop jobs. We decided to rebuild/renovate the bay windows. They were the only windows on the house that weren’t replaced by the previous owners when they extended the house back in ‘06.

Because we were staining and clear coating we had to replace the putty with quad. It also matches the rest of the windows now.

Pinning the quad on

Triton portable clamping stations work a treat.

The finished product (we will need to do the eave at some stage, but getting the windows, frames and sill completed was the short term goal.

When I say we, I mean Bronny (the wife) and myself. Bronny did a great job sanding detail stuff and ‘painting’.

Cheers, Bruce

Follows on from the previous isolation post.

The inside of the bay windows was also a mess, so....

Luckily the BGS had the profile for the window surround. Only down side is that it is finger jointed, which isn’t quite covered by the stain we used.

I added some pine ‘shoulders’ so we can attach magnetic flip screens.

Our next job is the four french doors out the back, and then rejuvenate all of the western red cedar windows and frames. Hopefully the isolation rules will stay in place until we have finished, as the bay windows were started almost 2 years ago

Cheers, Bruce

Trolley x2 finished. I used decking stain this time, not as shiny as the stain & varnish I used before so it is perfect for photos.

D4D, at least I got the morning off, before having to start the next job the missus wanted completed, a window seat for the bay window area, ‘now that it looks so much better’. Camphor laurel coffee table cut and shut to suit the alcove.

I have a section of the table left over to do a back rest, tomorrow.

Unscrewed the top off my work bench so the daughter has something to practice her tap dancing on...

Option B was the tiled floor, which wasn't going to happen...

Next bench will be a steel top, so I can weld on it
