Weigh In
« on: June 09, 2019, 05:21:13 PM »
Went over a weigh bridge today after I loaded up.....still have to add two blokes and two bags. A little annoyed as I’ve written one weight down wrong grrrrrr

Tug
GVM 2780
Max Front axle 1340
Max Rear axle 1600
GCM 5030
TBW 225

Trailer
ATM 2000

Weigh Bridge Figures
4480 Trailer and car (5030)
1680 trailer only still hitched to car
1960 trailer only unhitched from car (2000)
2740 car with trailer connected (2780)
- 1060 front axle (1340)
- 1680 rear axle (1600)
2520 car without trailer connected

220 or 280 TBW (225)

Interesting process....

Yes weeds, a visit to a weigh-bridge is a it of an eye-opener, isn't it?
Any options to correct the situation?

I went through a similar exercise. Ended up going GVM upgrade on the car and camper. Still have to watch it with the car....

Yep,
Weights are becoming a big issue,
Was told by our 4wd association that upgrades(nsw) will not be issued(no date)
This is why trucks like the Dodge Ram have become popular, Ram 4.5T.
Just looking at two vans today parked outside the Blue Dolphin(Yamba).
Both being towed by Prado's, each had Tinnies on their roofs, both vans looked to be 24ft, twin gas bottles and tool boxes on the rear.
I think allot of travellers push the limit, if not exceed it.

You don't use magic to disappear, all you need is a 4wd & a Swag ;)

My camper had an ATM of 1500kg.  Weighed at weighbridge and came in at about 1250. However my tinnie, motor and associated boating gear was 230kg. Also needed 75litres of water and 2 x 20 litre fuel cans. Plus other incidentals.   Got heavier axle and springs and had ATM moved to 1750kg with engineers certificate ($400).  Worth it to stay legal.
Having lots of friends on farcebook is the same as having lots of money in monopoly...means absolutely nothing!!

It’s a work setup........and we haven’t got a lot of options. We tried to maximize the setup but stay within.

Maybe we will get to ditch the Hi-lux’s..although not sure what options we have.
