Scary moment for Yamba campers and vanners
« on: January 03, 2018, 07:51:40 AM »
Just seen a news report about the mid north nsw town of Yamba being hit by a storm last night, winds of over 130kmh hit the van park damaging roofs, vans and over turning camper trailers and tents.

Thankfully no reports of major injuries, scary for all concerned, looked like a mini tornado.

Yep, Yamba is not far from Maclean at all. Lots of damage there yesterday. I was just south of Coffs today at Valla. Guy told me yesterday they had weird hail with jagged edges. Drove through the van park and all was a sea of silver tarps over every single tent and trailer. Even swans with bed flies were tarped over. Sure would suck to have your tent torn to pieces by sharp hail.

Have been through a few bad Hail storms that Hail the size of Baseballs +  with jagged fingers poking out in all directions .. Punched holes through the Alluminium skins of caravans .. in the past, not a very nice experience .

Staying here at Arrawarra and we got the side of this with just the heavy rain. Showed that the weathering I thought was enough on pur tent was not enough with every cross pole that contacted the tent dripping water.
