How do we clamp two items together when using a hole saw? Maybe some good non-spongy double sided tape?

Hi,
The hole saw without the drill bit won't exert a lot of force and a predrilled guide should hold it in place with some one holding it firmly in place.
That worked for me on a fiberglass shower enclosure where the tap holes were a bit out of alignment.
Cheers

Pool rather than shed, but we don't have a spot to whinge about being stupid any more ...

Pool was very full yesterday arvo, with more rain expected overnight, so I flushed 1" or so out of it to waste, turned the pump off, but left it set to waste so that if it needed more urgently overnight, it would simply be a matter of turning the pump on.

Checked before going to bed & the pool is 6" down!!! :o :'(

Apparently, despite the pump being turned off, water has continued to syphon out to waste through the filter & down the drain ::) :-[ :'(

So, despite having had 343mm of rain over the last 10 days, I may have to top the pool up! :-(

Turns out we got another 40mm or so overnight & still supposed to get some more so we'll see how we go? :-\

Drill the hole in a piece of timber with the holesaw. clamp it to the steel, remove arbour out of hole saw and then drill using the timber as a guide

Finally got a chance to try it & it worked fine ;D

Thanks again GG!

 :cup:

& for anybody who ever needs to do it - scrap piece of timber under the metal, with the guide-hole timber on it, all clamped very firmly as a sandwich to the bench  8)

So much for no more restoration work.

This one arrived yesterday. Seems there is something missing, can't quite figure out what it is.

Will save it up for the new year as it isn't a rush job.

Thought about pulling the boat out to start it on the earmuffs, and then CBF'd, so shut the roller door again

Kid got a steering wheel and pedal set for the X-Box ..  Precurser to the now 14 yro miss getting behind the wheel of a real car .
Done the old sit on the lap and steer, while on holidays in the years past, Now its time to start the next phase ..
To tight to buy a proper stand [ bastards want an arm and a leg  for them ] ...
So knocked one up out of scrap .. two off cuts of 12mm ply,  a few 90* brackets / a few holes drilled and a handfull of little bolts ...
Ohh and an  hour of being drenched everytime you move in the 90% Humidity ..  Beer and Fan O' Clock time ..
Base slides under the bum if sitting on a chair or under the side of the mattress of her  bed .Seems to work ok ..
Well I had to show her the how toos and explain the art of cornering and the use of gears accelerator etc ... She just complained about it taking an hour or so . ;D

Well done on the build by the way :cup:

She's pretty bright BM ..
On our trip to Woolgoolga the other day she asked if she can learn to drive a manual or did she have to learn an automatic first ..
Explained  to her the reasons why most learn autos first  instead of a manual ..So far she seems pretty set on learning a manual ..
Time will tell though and whether she is prepared to listen as she gets a bit older .. Her mother didnt when she was 16 and I tried to teach her to drive ..
Her sister started off in a manual but it all got too hard and was taking too long to master, Plus I apparently was expecting too much of her .  so she went the auto easy way .

With our two sons (25 & 20), we started them off with auto lessons & driving for 6 months so that they could get the idea of steering, braking etc without also having to worry about gears, followed by 6 months of manual training.

They both passed their manual licence test first go ;D, both now drive manuals & say they won't "ever" go auto ??? :-\

Yep. Even now, auto's are ~90% of cars sold, so in their driving lives, they'll probably see manuals disappear :'(

Who remembers back in the old days we used to clean and gap spark plugs as a normal part of a service?
The new, to us, van we picked up earlier this month has a 3.2kw generator in the front tool box, on a slide. Problem with it was, it wouldn’t start (it has an electric start). Checked fuel, plenty of that and it is reasonably fresh. Pulled the spark plug, after much dicking around to get to it (so much plastic to make things more attractive for the market) and jumped it back to the only exposed bit of engine casing I could find. Hit the starter and sparks were flying, just not in between the electrodes of the plug. They were dancing around between the insulator nose and the body of the plug. I set about cleaning the gap, that was supposed to be between these parts, with a normal tailors pin and was amazed at the amount of carbon that could fit in such a small space. This used to be done on a machine at the local mechanical workshop from memory. I then gapped the electrode, replaced it and kicked it over.
Bugger me, fired up first go and ran. It was a tad Smokey for about 2 minutes of run time, but then cleared and finally settled into ‘quiet mode’. Tested it out by plugging into the vans inlet, and all things 240v came to life, better and better. I thought I would push my luck and see what happened when I turned the air conditioner on. Sh1t that works as well, mind there is no guarantee that the fridge or battery charger were drawing any current at the same time, but I am stoked.
I shut the genny down and started it a few times to make certain it wasn’t a fluke, and it just kicked into life and settled nicely. Another boxed ticked for our next trip.
Only thing I would like to get working now is the remote start function of the genny. That would be totally cool, sitting in the van during a storm with the rain bucketing down. Hit the remote and your generator starts up (then you go outside into the storm and bucketing rain to plug the genny into the van ???)

Had a considerable break from toy making to put together these for my grand daughters, been a long time since I’ve done any painting so these are paint by numbers. Both are 500mm x 400 canvas size.
