Title: Newbie from Hunter Valley - Looking for new camper!
Post by: mjj078 on February 10, 2014, 02:55:37 PM
Hi all,

Another newbie to the site. Great spot to find some information. Been reading for a while all ready.

Anyway looking at buying a camper trailer soon, either new or 2nd hand. Will basically only get to the caravan parks and maybe a dam or 2 for some skiing. (Usually take swag and bikes to the bush).
Only dirt would be a sealed road which you would take a commodore over, so don't need anything too heavy duty.
Though long term is to plan to have a be it weight in it, so looking at one with heavy duty springs, shocks and electric brakes etc.

Been looking at usual spots, still not sold on anything yet.
Imports seem like good bang for you buck, but lots of mixed stories out there. I personally like the side storage models, as family of 5 and we always travel heavy.
Wife doesn't care as long it has a spot for us, the kids and all our crap, plus the annex.
Budget was around $5k, but once you start looking you seem to spend that bit extra (like buying a car), so will most likely end up a bit over $6k.
Like to tinker and customize things, so don't mind if it's not perfect, as long as I can fix.

Going to do a few mods to it I guess, but will be the 12v set up first. Sparky by trade so should not be a big problem, just need to decide on what camper to get.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers,

Matt

Welcome to Myswag Matt. $5k is a fair enough budget to find a 2nd hand CT. Check out Gumtree or the Trader section on this forum.
