Title: Another newbie here from SA
Post by: smartyingreen on May 23, 2013, 11:43:02 PM
New here looking for some ideas and comments on peoples experience with soft tops.  On the hunt shortly, loving the look and practicality of a Cameron Ultimate off road Concept top at the moment. Just waiting on final approval from minister for finance, recreation and the like!

Look fwd to many more hours scrolling through and eventually purchasing and getting out using.

Welcome to the forum.  Just googled the Cameron Ultimate and it sure looks like a nice camper.  Some interesting design features I haven't seen before.  Good luck with your decision.

Happy camping

Welcome to the forum. Nice place Renmark, the wife has relies there. The Cameron ultimate looks pretty flash. Can't comment on the soft floors too much as we are going hard floor.  Both styles have their pluses and minuses. You have to work out your needs and priorities for your next purchase. In saying that, the ultimate ticks a lot of boxes.

Welcome.  I have a Cameron concept, about 4years old now.  Could not be happier. Good quality, local manufacturer that you can talk to at any time (or visit them direct.)
The concept of folding out is very easy.  Seen some others opening their campers with much more huff and puff.  Even my wife could set it up by herself if me necessary!
I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for all the continued welcomes!

One thing is for sure - it is very addictive this site!!

Bookleaf, I keep hearing the same this about the cameron's, so with any luck we will be able to get exactly what we are after in the near future - things are looking up!

Pogasaurus, I think we could manage that - I am however a little disappointed that you don't yet have a signature picture up of your new ute and camper though - get to it!

Hi - Tony here from SA. Just become the proud owner of a MDC T-Box ct.  Liking it a lot up to this point.  I know a lot of people consider the MDC units cheap Chinese imports, but they have everything I was looking for at the right price - came with some really good old fashioned Aussie service too. Traded my Hyundai for an FJ Cruiser two months back, kitted it out with the bullbar, towbar, underneath rails etc and bought a couple of metal detectors, so all good to go. Camping, prospecting and 4x4 driving - what a great country!

Welcome aboard.
Broke down in Renmark once in 1985. Suzuki GS1100G 13 months old & the alternator packed it in. Suzuki would not come to the party. Bought a small battery charger & got home to Tamworth with a few clutch starts.
Nice place to break down though. Could have been in lot worse places.
Hope ya have some nice camping trips

Henry,
Still hunting - we are currently working on a second hand Cameron.  If this falls through we may look at a newbie or start considering other makes.  One way or another we will be in a camper soon-ish.  I think you can stop bragging about your locations too - some of us still have to work!!

Noel - Yeah it would be a great place to break down, especially in the warmer months when you can enjoy the benefits of the Murray.

Gday smartyingreen,

I have just been checking out the Cameron Concept Camper on the website.
They certainly look like an awesome looking rig that can be set up quickly with some other great options. I really like the fact that they are made in SA , I'll definitely be checking them out at the next caravan and camping show in Adelaide.
Look forward to seeing the pics.

Cheers Glenn

Welcome to this great forum MMBlue. I am not a fan of M&Ms, especially blue ones, but what ever takes your fancy I guess.

We haven't been away with our campers yet, only a few golf trips this year... Hopefully we get a chance to soon, and hopefully we can put up with each other when we do.

Hi MMBlue, great to have you onboard this fantastic forum. Not a big fan of blue mm's, but each to their own.
No haven't been away with the Pog yet but did recently take it for a quick weekend away with a family who also need a camper. It was a great opportunity for them to have a look and make a decision but not sure they have!

I have my eye on a camper that I think may becoming up for sale. The current owner go's golfing most weekends and his wife plays hockey every weekend in winter. I think that he will sell it cheep as he has plenty of money and needs the room in his shed for his new Prado.
I'm a big fan of green smarties.
