Is that right? I mountain bike in Awaba forestry area north of Wyong. So is it OK for me to pull up the camper and stay a night or two there when I go riding?

Pretty much anywhere except where you can't. If that makes sense: they do get closed from time to time

http://www.forestrycorporation.com.au/visit/activities/camping-and-picnics

WHERE CAN I GO CAMPING?

Camping is permitted in all State forests (except for Cumberland and Strickland State forests). Camping is generally not permitted in picnic areas. Exceptions are rest areas in places where major highways pass through State forests.

All State forests are free to camp in.

Its surprising that NSW, which is usually one of the most legislated states hasn't introduced similar. I'm trying to get my head round it but thankfully all the rules seem to be around commercial campgrounds so don't preclude someone camping with your mates on a property, but its a bit unclear.  Though it seems you can get round the regs by holding a sporting, recreation or cultural event. So camping with your mates for xmas is a recreational event right?

"Under the LG Regulation 2005, a temporary caravan park or camping ground operated for a period of 6 weeks or less, solely in connection with use of the land for a sporting, recreation or cultural event, does not have to be designed, constructed, maintained and operated in accordance with Subdivisions 1-8 of Division 3 of Part 3 of the Regulation (see clause 73(3)). This means, for  example, that the park or ground may be excused from having permanent amenities."

Everyone else gets to have cultural events.

I wonder if; and how that will effect:    www.youcamp.com   ??

Good thing the site owners have just flogged it off to the Super Retail Group...   (Super Cheap Auto; Rays; Rebel Sport; BCF; etc; etc)...

LOL
Not true sorry.

You certainly can.....if you can find a decent spot to set up camp that is ??

You do know there is a camp ground or 2 just around the corner from the MTB track...Gap Creek is one....about 5 mins drive from Mt Faulk rd !!

Funny how they call it Awaba MTB track but it's actually near Cooranbong !

Be aware that you are borderline state forest and national park up around there, so a look at a map might help..

We are heading to Yamba in 2 weeks  ;D

Can't wait as we haven't had the camper out all year. Just staying in a caravan park but this will suit the kids with the water park.

I believe so - actually there is another in between, think its called one mile

well, that's it for me for the year - our new (to us) prado is packed, not to the gunwales like we used to pack the pajero but full enough (poor thing is probably wondering what it has turned into - full length amplimesh roof rack, air tank, shovels, solar panels, poles and tarps for putting a shelter up on the beach, two fridges, esky, toolkits, maxtrax, recovery gear, weber baby-q, gas tanks, enough grog to sink a ship and a loaded camper trailer in tow)

we hit the starter at noon tomorrow and will be afk until January 12 (or thereabouts) - have a nice break everyone, merry xmas to those of us who celebrate it and a happy new year to all!

We are hitting Discovery CP in Byron on NYE for a bit over a week. Prefer to be in the bush but the compromise will keep the mrs happy and the pool & surf should keep us cool.

Reluctant to admit it, but we'll have the caravan in a van park in the middle of Brisbane over Christmas.

Not my first choice, but niece wants to do Christmas for the first time, so we must go.  Their are babies to fuss over, so that will make it more enjoyable.

Then a couple of overnighters as we drive back home.

Maybe in January we can go bush.

Tallabuggera Caravan park again. Get there every year.

I know it's not bush camping, but it's on the beach and the kids love it.

Be there tomorrow 👍
