G'Day from another Jayco Owner
« on: March 02, 2011, 09:27:40 AM »
Hi Everyone,

Joined the site last week and have been reading lots.

I've already posted a question on the general forum but I thought I should introduce myself properly. My husband and 3 kids have owned our 2002 Jayco Hawk for about 9 years.  We bought it when our youngest was only 6mths old.  We purchased it second hand but it was like new as the previous owners were a retired couple who bought it for the big trip but one of them got sick a week into the trip so they had to sell it.

We have done trips to Yamba, Coonabarabran, Snowy Mountains, 2 trips to Fraser Island, and lots of other places.

Our Hawk is an onroad as we had a Commodore Stationwagon when we bought it.  But not long after we bought a Landcruiser and have been wishing we had the Outback version ever since.  Despite being an onroad we have taken it lots of places like Fraser Island with no problems.

On Monday we finally decided to bite the bullet and have ordered our Dream Glamper.  It is a 2011 Outback Flamingo with the Lot. Expected delivery is in May.  We are very excited.  We love our Hawk, but this will have all the things that we have wished that we had in the Hawk for years.  We are looking forward to many more years of camping in our new Flamingo.

Great to have you onboard.  Looks like you've got the picture routine sorted with a few camping pics straight up.  Well done.

Look forward to seeing your new Jayco when it arrives as well as a few pics when you get out and about in it.

G'day,

I'm new here too!  Just got a brand new 2010 Outback Swan (i wasn't so keen on the new boot on the 2011 model althought the new door / roof was of interest...then when the price rise was factored in and the dealer gave a discount and extra goodies to move '10 stock i was sold. Plus i reasoned they have served people well for years so any update is just an update not a major reinvention of the wheel!

I went the Swan as it had a seperate longue to dinette and i thought that would be good to give mum and dad a spot seperate to sit from the sprogs on cold or wet indoor days. Interested why you preferred the Flamingo?

Anyway, enough chat - my main interest is how and where you took the Hawk to Fraser. I want to take my Swan there later this year to Dundubarra, probably via Hervey Bay to Moon Point or Kingfisher Bay. I'm interested to hear where other Jayco went and how they fared?
