With what has happened with the closures, and lock downs with the coronavirus, can we still go camping on your own or small groups? ???
-
Sorry, JC, but they're saying no :'(
-
That is the way I read it to, Fizzie.
-
Bit of an unknown at the moment ? I have a secluded camp spot 15 mins from home, no contact with humans to get there , while there or returning back home.
Some will say, what's the difference between that and staying at home....something I'm still mulling over ??

Hmmm. There's 'Social Distancing' alerts.

Pic is not around Brissie.

The problem we have is an intelligent person would just go straight to their secluded spot and isolate themself.
Lots will go to their spot, call into the servos, bottlo's and Maccas on their way because they dont feel too bad. And they will also go to the rural stores and stock up on dunny paper too.
Sorry but we all have to walk at the slowest pace.
Cheers Glen

I was contemplating heading out to a very, very secluded bush camp just a few hours away. But why risk it?. The toll is now over 2000 cases of virus and this could rapidly get way out of hand. Holidays are anything but essential . I did see on some site that non essential travel should be avoided. I wont be surprised if van parks are also forced to close down. Its getting more serious everyday and I think the urgency of a 4 day holiday pales into insignificance compared to what we may be facing.
I still reckon the quicker a complete shut down occurs with curfews in place..the quicker we may have some sort of control of the virus...Holidays mean people will always meet and greet each other..
-
Just saw on the 7 news...Essential travel only from midnight tomorrow..no holidays.
-

This, Camping in the backyard is about as best as you can get I think.

Queensland National Parks Booking Service is still allowing you to book a site on their service

It also states that this can change at any time with cancellations as well.

Everything is changing so quickly, they just likely haven't been able to update it yet.

Here is a link to a list of things you can and cannot do...

Holidaying out as is unnecessary travel......things will get tighter yet I feel.
Maybe people will start taking it a bit more seriously now.
One thing we can all be sure of...there will be a lot of deaths and its your actions that can help to keep this figure low..

We decided to leave camping isolation and return home to a more affluent isolation yesterday and I was quite surprised to see the number of c/trailers, campers and vans heading North. Perhaps they were just returning home as well, although there were noticeably more heading North than South!
Beware, FNQ!!!!
-
I had to go down to Cairns yesterday, and I saw campers and caravans on the road, that is why I asked the question.
-
There could be a number of people going to stay at families places to isolate there with them, especially those that live alone. Go and put your camper or van in the backyard at their place and hunker down with them.

The whole point of NOT travelling ANYWHERE is to stop spreading the virus. This whole voluntary thing just doesn't work, because everyone thinks it applies to other people. Unfortunately we're in for a long period of hurt because we have become a country of selfish pr*cks.

fair call too.
-
My son just told me caravan/camping parks are closing today in Vic, with permanents allowed to stay.
So maybe in Qld soon too.

Exactly...the stupidity and selfishness shown in the last three weeks proves what a bunch of self centered f wits many are in the communities. I can guarantee country town folk dont want the scumbags in their towns.

Caravan parks and camping grounds closures
At the direction of the Chief Health Officer Victoria campsites, caravan parks and camping grounds will now be closed to visitors.
This is effective from 11.59pm (local time) 25 March 2020.
The only people permitted to remain will be:
People who already have the caravan park registered as their primary place of residence; and
People staying in caravan parks as interim accommodation where their primary residence is not available (including those of no fixed address and people placed in emergency housing by DHHS).
These actions follow further restrictions on domestic and international travel, with all non-essential travel banned. Compliance with this directive is enforceable under section 203 of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 and penalties apply.
It is important to reduce the risk of infection and slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Victorian community.

I was camped in an extremely isolated NP in SW Qld for the past 10 days. Been going there for 5 yrs and never seen a Ranger or another camper. Anyway Ranger rocks up this morning and explains the situation. I didnt have to leave urgently, but did anyway. They knew I was there because I booked before I left. Rangers trip was 2 hrs each way. Mine was 9hrs to get home....... No traffic on the roads to speak of. The joys of not listening the radio

They drove for 2 hours each way to tell "you" to ping off & go home ???
Well, that's absolutely fantastic use of their limited budget, that is! :'(
-
That would have been 2hrs otherwise spent cleaning toilets in the popular parks if they weren’t all closed.
One would expect they would have done the rounds of any other parks in their region to make sure there wasn’t any squatters setup without bookings. ;)

I would have assumed he was doing the rounds of a few other camps in the area.

Must be full-time travellers where a primary residence is not available ^^^^^^
Lots of people stuck in this situation now. At least they can get groceries and medicines, unlike if camped in a free camp with nothing.
-
I believe they have deemed "homeless" nomads as essential travel and can be accepted by caravan parks. They will need to quarantine themselves in one spot and not continue to travel, but at least now they can be accepted by caravan parks (at the owners discretion).
But there is no opportunity to pack up the family and go a holiday.

Still saw numerous caravans and campers on the Freeway in Melbourne this morning...
Mentioned to one bloke with a nice shiney new caravan that it was a shame all camping and caravan parks are not allowed at moment, to which I was told sex and travel.

Also noticed on the poster "Following 2 week quarantine, must reside in park for 90 days".
Is that a Govt ruling, or is the park just guaranteeing itself at least some sort of an income for the next few months ???
