Frankston to the Great Ocean Road

We will be leaving Frankton Staurday to go home to th barossa, via the Great Ocean Road.  Can anyone help me with the best route t get through the city, and what tolls I will be up for, I am quite happy to pay tolls to keep it simple to get out of the city.  I am not a big fan of crouds.

That'd be tollway/freeway all the way round to Geelong

Eastlink from Frankston to the Monash, then Citylink from the Monash over the Westgate and Geelong freeway.

or you could catch the ferry on the hour every hour.

Gday Cracka,

Get onto the Eastlink head north and get off on the Monash freeway exit.
Will take you all the way over the westgate bridge and straight to Geelong where it will join the Geelong bypass, then follow the signs to the Great Ocean Road.

Time from Frankston to the Geelong bypass will take you around 1hr 15mins offpeak, or around 2hrs in peak depending on congestion, but pretty much the quickest route.
I recently did the trip and it cost me around $15 but not 100% sure with the Ct onboard.

Just jump on Eastlink, up to Monash M1 that goes into the Westgate Freeway which goes into the Geelong Freeway and away you go, once you get on Eastlink there is only one turn off from Eastlink to Monash and your on freeway from Franger to Geelong (not freeways anymore but thats what I call them still) not sure but I think its only a day pass for both toll roads, used to be 10 or 12 bucks I think

How about taking the ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliffe and cut the bay loop out all together?

There are a few "depends on" regarding cost and the most economic way, but I've included the links above that should see you straight.

The ferry is a great way to cut the transit time but really hits the kick hard . I have done it with the rig only nearly went home at the cost . Do the free/charge ways see a bit of the city as you go . Stay in the far left as you cross Westgate , gives the passangers a great view of the mouth of the Yarra & the factorys of Newport . Watch your speed cameras all over the place   Dont forget to stop at Anglesea Golf course to see the roos that have taken over the fairways .Apollo Bay go to the mariners lookout well worth the walk . nice break from the road

It will also pay to keep an ear out on road reports given the wet weather, some of the Great Ocean Road was closed recently due to land slippage, and the other end at Warnambool has rising flood waters that may effect the road conditions. Enjoy the trip, if you have the time the loop through Melbourne is well worth the effort.
