Pretty sure in NSW what you get is what you get. Check with the RTA

:D In Qld the small 2 letter, 4 digit for trailers under 750 Kg, over this you have full sized plates Q something.  When I re-regoed mine from 1t to 1.5 tonne, it originally had small plates but the local DOT said they were wrong and I was lucky not to have been weighed.... apparently the issuing DOT in Beenleigh had got it wrong.  Remember big plate also = bigger $ rego

I think you can get personalised plates for the CT too

Are they the same width as a standard plate, or are they just narrower . (are they the same as boat trailer plates).

:D little ones AA-1234 type are a boat tinnie trailer cause they're normally reg'd as under 750kg.  The big ones are like normal car plates, or check out the back of a semi trailer.
I have seen a bloke get personalised plates, whether you can get them in the 'slimline' look you'd have to ask and how it was done I don't know either.
