Ok.  I found out that the owner had difficulty entering the discount price on the website and the % discounts got all stuffed.   The real discount price is $400.  If you have ordered at $50 or need more info regarding the battery, modes of charging or management system can you please call them and they will sort it for you.  Keep in mind they are in perth 3 hours delay from eastern summer time so try fro midday onwards .

Certainly not the usual way of doing things but sounds like if you bought one and you want to know you  where your coin is they are expecting you to call. EFT refunds usually take about a week from memory.

No retailer could possibly expect customers to contact them in this situation. There well may be people who ordered who haven't seen the discussion on here and would have no clue that there is an issue.

Btw, m no legal expert but my understanding is that when something is offered for sale, the transaction is completed and a contract of sale exists once the seller accepts your money. That said, the fact that the acceptance in this case is done automatically might muddy those waters.

Anyway, in the short term at least I shall be waiting to receive the goods or contact from the seller if there's an issue. Second or third hand suggestions through an Internet forum is not the way to communicate with customers.

So if the retailer makes an error it’s up to the customer to chase it up? ...... interesting way of doing business. I’ll wait another week or so and let PayPal sort it out. How many disputes do PayPal allow before retracting the services to retailers I wonder?

I read it as it will obviously be refunded if you have questions you can contact him.

In regards to legalities, I don't know how it all works but know price errors are a pretty commonly posted on OzBargain, the usual result it refunds, sometimes the retailers offer a $10 voucher as a way to keep some goodwill.

Err no. Unless the seller states in their T&C's that they will honour pricing errors.  They are under no legal obligation to sell it and can withdraw from the sale and refund any money.

I don't suppose you can provide a link to the regs?

This is Vic, but same would apply to all states.

https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/products-and-services/business-practices/advertising-and-promotions/misleading-or-deceptive-conduct

"
Pricing mistakes

If a business advertises an incorrect price by mistake, they are not obliged to sell their product at that price. However, they must withdraw the product from sale until the price is corrected.
If a customer places an order at an incorrect price, the business must inform the customer of their mistake before processing the order and give them the choice to continue with their order at the correct price, or cancel it. Alternatively, the business can choose to honour the discounted price as a sign of good will.
If a price seems unusually low, the customer can prevent any issues by asking the business if the price displayed is correct."

Check their T&C's if they have a policy on pricing errors.

Thanks mate.

In this case, they have accepted payment and sent me a receipt for the sale.
I'm pretty confident that means they have processed the order.

The fact no one from the company has made any contact might be a good sign for you guys.  Either that, they're just plain hopeless and trying to work out what to do...

Kogan honored a price error on some Dyson vacs (I think?) a few years back that cost them $80K, but got them a ton of free publicity thanks to their 'goodwill'.

We can only hope. Not how I’d run my business if they have no intentions of honouring it.
