The guy is an idiot
Base on him, a Landcruiser 79 double cab cannot carry any weight behind the rear axle
He is indirect saying that it will bent the chassis
And to avoid this, buys his ‘product’

The turning circle looks like it will go from bad, to nearing impractical.

Some that have had the 300mm chassis extension done say that off road it handles a lot better.
Really though if he is worries about load carrying just go to a six wheeler

No amount of money spent on the chassis will fix what I, and somebody I know who owns one, regard as the biggest shortcoming of the dual cab cruiser.
A very cramped cabin.
I am only 185cm and I don’t even feel comfortable as a front seat passenger. Back seat is no chance.
That’s my experience. I am sure other owners are happy.

Don't think he was inferring that it would break the chassis at all. Quite to opposite. He always says how strong the land cruisers are.
My understanding was that he was saying that with so much weight behind the rear axle (especially with a "narrow" rear axle) that the handling was terrible. Never owned one so I can't confirm or deny, but all evidence I've seen would confirm what he says. Most of the YouTube guys who do run the dual cab 70's seem to go through 2 distinct build phases; Phase 1 is to put as much stuff on the back as they can. They then wheel the hell out of them and then slowly work out that the back of the truck is losing the fight with gravity every time they time to drive up a hill. Massive wheel lifts and severe lack of stability seem to be common. Then phase 2 begins and they take as much of their expensive goodies off the back as possible to try and get it lighter. As I said, never owned one and likely never will. My comments are only through observation of the heaps of guys who do and then post their exploits up on Youtube.
As for ASP himself, have to say I loved his Africa stuff, but never really enjoyed his Aus stuff.

thats the case with may cars/4wds etc these days... you look at the back seat in em and its almost a bad joke.

If this is what the Aussy south African fellow has done I love it, the cost, no way I would do it, but made it into a better 4wd for caring with tracking wheel base, My brother has a 79 heaps more room in the back than my 80, But just a over priced 4wd from the get go for me, mates have spent 130grand on them and still going, Craig

looks good to me - when viewed in isolation of the price tag, and having to fit in them.

I know of about 6 guys who run Diesel repair business' and have the dual cabs, they all say the weight in the rear lifts the front up and reduces the braking efficiency, especially if reversing down a hill.
They all say a 300mm extension to put weight forward of the rear axle would be fantastic.

I hear you i lived in one for 2 years in the Pibra. I dont care what engine is in the thing, it was the most uncomfortable piece of junk to be seated in and the gear ratios were shocking the damn thing would rev at like 2700rpm at 110, so if you wern't deaf by the wind noise by the end of your trip the screaming engine sure did the job

Seems to me that despite all the draw backs and the ridiculous price (IMHO) there is no real competitor for the 70 series. I'm sure that that is why it still gets so much love.
