Hi Guys,
I think its safe to say we all love camping here on MySwag!!
However, I bet the reason we all love camping is different. Many love camping, because camping is great! ;D
But many others love camping, because it lets them enjoy their other favourite hobby. I've started off the poll with a bunch that I think will cover off many. If you need me to add more poll options just drop them in the comments!
Cheers,
Jon

for me, a weekend doing nothing at home usually means I'll end up mowing, or fixing something, or tending to some sort of household chore, or misses will find a reason to have to go to the shops 3 bloody times.........................
A weekend camping means I have absolutely nothing to do except sit, relax, and enjoy............................and having a beer beside a fire is far more appealing than having a beer in front of the tele.
-
Keeping it to just three out of the list is hard, the overarching reasons though is to relax, spend time together as a family, and reconnect with nature. Also helps in that it is usually pretty cheap.
-
Some great additional reasons to go camping! I have added a few more options based on your feedback above thank you!
Agreed on escaping household chores & relaxing by the fire with a cold one!!
-
I've also increased the bidding options to 4 given there are now more choices!
-
Can you add "To go Hunting" to that list.

I usually go camping somewhere for a reason.
It maybe surfing somewhere, taking the kids exploring, catching up with friends etc etc.
But I think most of us here like / love / enjoy the "art" of camping, thats a poxy term, but the best I could think of.
For me at the moment that doesn't iclude a CT or a caravan, infact lately it has been more from a boat.
So I like having simple but quality set ups that may vary from camp to camp. The only fundamentals I (think I) have are chairs and an esky or fridge. Everything else seems to change each time whether that be from a swag to a 3 room blackwolf tent and combo's in between.

I have used my boat to go camping a few times! It is great! Though quite challenging with weight distribution and preventing your boat looking too much like its a refugee boat!! I have definitely had some interesting looks on the boat ramp when we're heading off to Peel Island for the weekend with friends.

Yeah......I have been going up to the inside top of Fraser.
its a trick trying to kee everything along the spine of the boat and keeping access for everyone to move around a bit.
Thers been a few times where I have had to ferry friends and it looks like I am trying to move to NZ with peolples gear loaded.
I keep telling them less stuff and more alcohol but no one listens until they want to do a pub run first thing the second morning

As a kid, we used to camp at the mouth of the Daintree river for Easter along with lots of others. The boat was loaded up and we slowly made our way down the river from the ferry crossing as we were so heavy with gear. Only saw one crocodile on the banks, but that ended up being our last trip as we moved to Brisbane the next year.

Quite a lot of my camping is related to 4WD trips, so it's basically required in order to visit the places we go 4WDing in. That said, I'd go camping in most of these places just to enjoy the camping, even if you could get there without a 4WD.
For me, there is nothing quite like sitting around a campfire in the evening, having a couple of drinks, and just hanging out with great people.
Waking up in the morning to the sounds of birds etc. rather than an alarm and traffic noise is a big bonus too.

Yeah, but I ticked off 14 of them before I saw the 4 only limit! ;D
-
Some of my favorite camps have been on road trips where we've just pulled up off the road in the middle of nowhere with nobody around for miles. Love it.

Only 4 options allowed for the poll... :'( LOL, I think I selected MOST options before it told me I wasn't allowed to!
I think the #1 reason we head away camping is to escape the daily grind. I grew up on the land and love the freedom, so I hate being in campgrounds where you're up your neighbour's jumper, so to speak. Give me the open space of bush camping over a caravan park etc. any day!
The 4WDing aspect... well often it is required for where we want to go. You can't get across the Simpson without one... or at least I wouldn't recommend it! ;D
If there's fresh water somewhere nearby even better. I'll take salt water if I have to. ;)
