I carry one on the back of my truck (Western Star 4900) but have only had the chance to ride it once, this year.  :'(

Am I the only one who carries their bikes in the car, or is it because so many use utes rather than wagons?

This is one of the main dilemmas I have with replacing the 4Runner - drop the seats and I have a level floor all the way and I can easily load even my XL framed 29er in upright (only remove the saddle) and there's enough length in the boot to do that. Wife's bikes can go sideways across the car...
My dual cab Amarok tub takes my MTB bike laid flat, not having to take wheel out, or even twist the wheel out of the way:

Make sure you watch Red Bull TV tonight for the World Cup Downhill final. Minnaar, Gwin & Brosnan are all in the hunt for the title, whoever wins the race, wins the series!

Heads up the Aldi 29er is coming up for sale again soon. It's not going to win a DH or XCO title, but for $350 as a commuter or camping bike it ticks the right boxes.

Even Flow reviewed it :) http://flowmountainbike.com/post-all/the-350-aldi-mtb-is-back-heres-our-take/

I have one of the Aldi 29ers and am very happy with it. Word around the traps is, it's a Polygon frame. You may need to check a few things on it = bearing tightness and cables and gear adjustment but for $350, they are a bloody good buy.  ;D

Comes out of the same factory...
99.9% of the worlds bikes come out of the Giant or Merida factories. Including many so-called boutique brands.

Not that I need another bike, but it's quite tempting to pick up one of these Aldi ones to see what it's like.

I'm going to grab one. I do have a bike in the shed that has some nice gear on it, but I was a naïve about frame sizes when I got it. Frame is a bit small for me.

My thinking exactly :)

I took the dirt jump bike out yesterday, almost went out the front door showing my son how to jump. Damn thing developed creaking cranks, I hate noises on my bikes. Took the cranks off and found no grease on the axle. This bike was put together in the shop with no love. Added some grease, refitted the cranks and back to silence.

Got out for a quick solo ride before the rains hit at Lysty. Spoilt with it being so close. Nothing better to clear the head and awaken the body. Back was tight at the start but all fixed after just short of an hours ride

Put a new cassette, chain and outer chain ring on my bike.
I didn't know it was that easy.
I measure the difference in the new and old chain, both having the same amount of links: 2.5 cm......
Worn? Nah.  ;D

Steel rule from centre of pin to another centre 12 links (outer and inner) later on should be 12" long, anything more than that is the chain is worn.

So I went to the local TREK dealer this afternoon to have a look at a bike. Had a look at the current Marlin 5. Now compared to the Aldi 29er, that is on sale this w/end, the TREK had lower spec componentry. The only thing that was higher spec was the TREK had juice brakes where the Aldi has got cable. TREK had Tourney derailleurs whist the Aldi has Acera. I know we're not comparing apples with apples but I don't think the TREK as going to be $250 better. Plus for my planned riding, I think the Aldi 29er will do the trick. Hopefully I snag one before they sell out. Just my two cents worth.
Cheers, Mike.

Dropped into Aldi about an hour ago not expecting there to be any bikes left. To my surprise there was a medium left in blue, and 4 larges, 2 x blue, 2 x red. I don't really need another bike, decisions decisions....
