Ken Tame Insurance
« on: April 27, 2018, 12:13:24 PM »
Been looking at changing insurance on car and van. I got a quote from Ken Tame Insurance at the recent caravan show, and they look a good price with full agreed value coverage. Underwritten (bought out by?) by Allianz is my understanding.
At present car is with Club4x4, which I haven't had to use. To be fair their agree value with fitted accessories is a good price, but I dont like what Im reading about their claims.
Van is with CIL which Im happy with, but may change over to as a package.
I did a google search on Ken Tame and the results were positive feedback.
Anyone here using KTI, and if so whats your FIRST HAND experience with them?

Glen, ken tame does a huge amount of the cmca.
I’ve see first hand ken tame going beyond the call of duty to help people out. I know con the ceo and they are a small organisation underwritten by Allianz but there to help their customers.
Sometimes I hear they can be expensive but I know the really help the customers. There are normally also extra benefits in roadside etc that others don’t provide.

I don't know of KTI, are they local to us? Apart from some of the claims stories doing the rounds re: club and the new water ingress excess, for us here in the West, making a claim with an Eastern States orifice during their business hours is a big concern for me. Not sure which way I'm swinging ATM, but its not looking good for club for my repeat business. I cant fault CIL for my camper, not that I've had to draw on it.

and thats the concerning part for us all... You want it to be there when you need it. FFS its expensive enough isnt it? Surely it should be simple and clear.

I was with CIL for years, but then they sent me a notice saying they weren't going to cover for damage brought about by falling branches. I live in Vic for heavens sake, this was a biggie for me.

I have been zig-zagging ever since. With Club at the moment.

Something worth considering - if both your tow vehicle and caravan/camper trailer are insured with the same company and they are both damaged in the same ‘at fault’ accident there are some companies that only charge one excess for the resulting claim ...
