Title: Supercars 2022
Post by: alnjan on March 05, 2022, 08:18:14 PM
Looks like Shane van Gisbergen has started where he left off from last year.

3 pit stops play 2 pit stops and still win by 19.5 seconds

Anton 2nd and Chaz 3rd

And young Feeny with a P 9 finish.

Not a bad start to the year. Nice to see some of the young blokes coming up.

SVG in that red bull car should run away with it this year but hopefully one or two others can take it to him. Im really looking forward to next years cars, I think they'll be great to watch.

Yeah SVG will be the one to beat, but good to see a crop of constant drivers like Chaz and Anton leading the rest.  Wild card will be Brodie Kostecki and also interesting to see where Broc Feeney settles into the pack

Feeny seemed a more than suitable replacment for Whincup, the way he was bashing every car he tried to pass in the second race  >:D

I've was impressed with Will Browns performance last year, an he did OK on the weekend (except for qualifying on Sunday). Kostecki was also strong in race 2... It looks like team Erebus might have a decent year with those two?

For a mild mannered looking bloke, Feeney looks to have some balls !! He was only giving as much as he received.
If Erebus can keep giving them competitive cars , the young blokes are in for a good year, especially Brown.

Council green lights Sandown redevelopment plan

The threat of redevelopment has hung over Sandown for many years, but took a step forward last year when the MRC brought this latest proposal to the council table.

According to documents submitted to the council this latest stage will be followed by and "exhibition of the amendment" and "assessment of public submissions" before it hits council again for more planning work.

During last night's council meeting, councillor Rhonda Garad: "What this means is, this will be the opportunity, once it is exhibited, for the community to examine these plans and have their say and we hope that the community takes up that opportunity."

If the rezoning goes ahead, there are plans to demolish the horse and motor racing facilities and turn the area into a new urban development.

Sandown has been hosting horse racing since 1888 and motorsport since the early 1960s.

I wonder how much MRC is going to contribute to council and state govt out of the windfall to upgrade and develop the additional infrastructure to support another 1400+ houses and roadworks, eg water supply, sewerage, storm water etc.

None I'd say, that would all be up to the developer after purchase, like every other rezoning.
You can sit on the land, as long as you pay the residential rates.
When you subdivide, it must come with roads, gutters, sewerage , stormwater etc.(in vic)

An interesting day on the mountain today, managed a dry day for both practice sessions. Not so sure they are going to get away with it for the rest of the weekend. Just starting to rain now as the Classic boys head out, let’s hope they get thru without any damage.

Hopefully the race gets some dry running. But it looks like tomorrow and Saturday will be wet.

The co driver practice session times were interesting.

I’m just happy for Holdsworth to have a clean race and finish Sixth, he’s a top bloke who I have been fortunate enough to spend some time with.

Yep nice to have a proper race between the fastest cars to decide the result rather than extra safety cars, fuel issues, mechanical probs etc.

As an SVG fan pretty happy too  ;D

Could be some good racing today with SVG qualifying stone motherless last, expect him to work his way thru the field.
I would rather he get tangled up with the back markers for awhile but I think he will be out for some redemption.
