Anything that can be begged, borrowed, or stolen.

Im not fussy, bottle, tap pack, cask, flagon.

Must be able to mix  with bubbly in case SHMBO asks for  a pink champagne, and most importantly, mix well with the Stones Green Ginger Wine in the other hand.

in case you ask, i do not have a problem, I am the problem, just ask SHMBO.

Had a mate over last night and he brought over a bottle of Bullers FIne Old Tawny Port.
A very nice drop too. ;D Sort of moreish. ;D

The good wife and I both like a nice port, but the good stuff gets a bit pricey. Latest I've been tasting is 10 year old matured. $34 per half litre. Thanks to my fine wine manager wife.

Though my latest cold weqther tipple has been the honey Jack Daniels and expresso flavoured vodka.

Warms up the cockles nicely.!

Enjoy a port around the fire often, from the local goon at Echuca ($10 for 2 lts) to grandfather.

Currently have a box of 6 from Cambells of Rutherglen, mixed port, muscat and desert wines.

Thumn estate liquor port, or galway pipe or any othing available at the point of purchase.

Just opened a bottle of Grant Burge aged tawny,  not bad at all

Tried it out last night. Nice drop.
Reckons you can't buy it anymore. True or false? ???

From the Hunter? Your hubby would have worked for Rosemount? I started at Southcorp just after they bought Mr Oatley out and for a little while after he sold the lot of us out to Fosters. They should never have let him keep his shares.

At Magil the wine makers used to taste batches of wine, typically export stuff to make sure the batches were ok for shipping OS. You could usually tell they been doing it as their lips were stained purple from tasting so much wine. They used to take only a small sample from a bottle, then move onto the next bottle. This used to leave all these bottle left with a little bit taken out which they would give away to staff. If you were quick we used to pick up some really good bottles of just about anything for nothing. They did this about once a month to quarterly.

Best job I ever had, but did nothing for my sobriety.

I read an article in the Herald Sun about 1994,could have been later its only a guess...It had a story about an 80 odd year old Cooper that did Barrels on the side...It showed he had fingers missing etc etc from work over the years...I cannot remember his name but know a mate picked up the barrel made of U.S oak on the way to Bendigo back then..Does anyone know who this bloke was,the barrel is stamped with numbers and its still in its raw state...

I don't drink a lot of it but after a year it comes out thick and you can smell the oak..Mates love it...

Oh beware of the waxed barrels too...

Went to Dan Murphys yesterday and bought a cask of Golden Oak Australian Tawny Port for 10 bucks.
Very nice for a cask port. Look forward to giving it a good try out in a couple of weeks on our next weekend away ;D

I think for price and quality Hardys, Tall Ship port wins hands down.
And White Tim Tams.
There is a song some where about it, sucking port through your Tim Tams.
But as for at home
Penfolds Bluestone (or just about any of them)

I use to buy port from a local winery that was either laced with bourbon or scotch.... Whenever i drunk it and woke up the next morning I never had any recollection of the night before!!!!
