Hi from Sydney.

Looking to take advantage of people's knowledge in sussing out what kind of off-road camper will be best for the family.  Will be towing with a Y62 Patrol, 3.5T max/350kg ball.

Looking for something that can get through some decent 4wd'ing/tight spots, river crossings, and also not fall apart on the corrugations while touring long distances.  Another big plus would be quick setup time and must be able to be done by one person.

I'll start trawling around for info but if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Cheers.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately I won't be much help for advice - we're not camper trailer owners. But I know plenty of others on here will have great suggestions! Do you have a budget you need to stick to? New or second-hand?

Best of luck with your research and shopping! ;)

Welcome to the Forum Woody, a bit more detail will narrow it down a bit more. How big is the family and are the kids younger or older. A rough budget would be great.

I'd want the flexibility to take 2 friends along instead of kids, as for budget, not sure yet.  Second hand most likely, just depends on what different qualities are out there and what money each one needs, I don't want to buy junk but nor can I afford the best of the best.  Any brands to stay away from in general or does it mainly depend on what it's being used for?

Welcome and good luck with your CT search,
Plenty of info here to digest so that your decision will be well informed.
It will also rely on a bit of luck on what’s around within your budget when your ready to pounce.
