Watching DCA yesterday & they have film of Montague Street Bridge in Melbourne (https://howmanydayssincemontaguestreetbridgehasbeenhit.com/) claiming it's latest victim https://youtu.be/N7C-BJclmwM?t=59 ::) - as always NSFW or Family! ;D

That was the first time that I'd seen that there's also a hanging warning barrier before you get to it, so anybody who's ever driven into it has already had an all-mighty clang on the roof of their truck, which they've ignored! ::) :o

I'm not sure why in the last 15 years they haven't lowered the road a few ft but not make it a 'bucket' to fill with water..

I'm not sure why in the last 15 years they haven't lowered the road a few ft but not make it a 'bucket' to fill with water..

Was doing an Army Course forever ago, & chatting to a Cavalry tankie, who was telling us a story concerning Holsworthy Barracks in Sydney.

The Base is on both sides of the railway line, with a public road crossing between the two sides, under a railway bridge, which is marked as "5.2"m clearance (don't remember the exact number, but something like that). APCs use the road all the time, & their tracks are always chewing the bitumen up, so Main Roads come out regularly, give it another spray & bill Army appropriately.

This particular time, the vehicles were going on Exercise & being moved on transporters, rather than driving themselves, & this bloke had a high-roof Command Vehicle on the back of his truck. Convoy moves out & all is good till he goes to drive under the bridge & Crunch!!!

Naturally, much yelling & screaming ensued, with a lot of it being directed at him for not knowing his vehicle height, ignoring the bridge height warning signs & so on. When he could finally get a word in, he pointed out that he had checked his max. height before leaving & it was exactly 5m, & proved it by climbing up with a tape measure.

Attention then turned to the bridge itself & they put a tape on that to find that it was also exactly 5m! 20+ years of resurfacing the road had added .2m of height to it, but nobody had ever thought to remeasure the clearance height on the bridge ::) >:D

Hi,
The only competitive sport I've ever been involved in was small bore rifleshooting.
Behaviour like as shown on tv,  on a range, would have swift repercussions.

In case you are having a rough day, here’s a stress management technique that has been recommended in all the latest psychological journals. The funny thing is that it really does work and will make you smile:

1. Picture yourself lying on your belly on a warm rock that hangs out over a crystal clear stream.

2. Picture yourself with both your hands in the cool running water.

3. Birds are sweetly singing in the cool mountain air.

4. No one knows your secret place.

5. You are in total seclusion from that hectic place called the World.

6. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of
serenity.

7. The water is so clear you can make out the face of the Greens voter you are holding underwater.

See, it worked.
You’re smiling.
You feel better already.

There's some wits around-

If you were wanting an urgent copy of your birth certificate for a passport forget it as there's a queue of Megans a mile long wanting to change their name to Karen.
