Big hello from Central Qld!
« on: December 11, 2020, 09:36:32 AM »
Hi everyone!

I'm coming in as a newby to this world from Central Qld. Love camping but time to upgrade from the old tent. So hubby and I have decided it's time to look at a camper trailer. We are looking for advice and info from others.

thanks everyone.

Gday & welcome.

We found when we were looking years ago, that one of the best ways to gauge what you are searching for is to walk around camping areas and see what others have.

Bit like buying a house.
You will be able to see different styles of set up and even chat with the owners on the good/ bad of their set up.

Cheers.

G'day Mumma & welcome to Swag ;D

CQ Coast or Inland ???

Have a search of what we've all had to say, try & sort the dribble out of it ;D, then ask questions & somebody will be able to help you.

That is, if you're not too tired! ;D

Have fun!

Central Qld Coast area Graeme. I'm a crazy tired working mum who tries to find time for camping.

Have looked any many set-ups at parks we have stayed at over time, we originally we looking at something like a jayco eagle or similar but recently have been thinking out maybe a camper trailer maybe a better for us.

Try hiring a few different types for a weekend or longer if you can
That way you will figure out what works best for you
We did 2 weeks up the cape in a hired Kimberly and loved it
When one came up for sale here in NZ we jumped at it
Just getting ready for a few weeks over Christmas  8)
If your not prepaired to stand behind our troops
Then feel free to stand in front of them

mum ... maybe a camper trailer maybe a better for us.

2 big factors - how many little people (& how old), & how do you go away - overnighters or a week at a time in one spot ???

Lots more storage space in soft floors....
depending on how many and how old, and how many will help setup to what would suit you best..

First work out budget
How many people and ages ((cots? swags? Bunks? doesnt matter... etc )
Then type of camping you'll do - overnight/base camping/long term etc
Where you'll camp - free camping/van parks etc
Work out ball weight your car will take. this may help eliminate what camper you can have
Must haves/dislikes - EG: where to cook, etc
Where will it be stored...

that will get you started.
