I have genuine Steelie mounts for phones in both of our cars, dash mounted. Great system, no issues, never come loose.

I have a Ram floor mount for my iPad, some vibration but no issues.

Really happy with mine.  Rock solid on the windscreen and holds the phone/gps with ease.

Industrial Evolution mounts - Australian designed and made (this company makes mounts for police, ambulance, council vehicles, etc) great business to deal with, and they will custom make mounts for models not listed if necessary.

Here's some pics of the in-dash mount they made for my FJ Cruiser that an Otterbox Defender case is mounted to for holding my iPad (please excuse the hot pink Otterbox cover - it was the cheapest spare cover I could buy).

I have a Garmin GPS attached to the windscreen....also had a camera until it fell off and I squashed it with the door and stuffed it.....
So, how do you keep a suction mount attached to the windscreen for more than 3 weeks at a time ??

I have a ram mount. It stuck on the windscreen with phone for the entire PDR and tele track. Didn't  budge once

I just got a RAM mount (the x- mount type) on the weekend. Only had it on on for a couple of days, but seems really strong. The locking mechanism that sucks it onto the windscreen is the best I've seen.
Got it from Piranha, they stock a pretty big range of RAM mounts.

I just pull over and answer it if i'm expecting a call.

Other that, it can ring out and i'll call them back later.

There's not many $10million deals happening that can't proceed without my input... so stuff 'em.

i'm guessing that most of the respondents on this thread (including me) are mainly using these mounts for GPS devices or using the GPS capability on their phone, rather than just the phone capability... ?

your phone can be in the glovebox, cup holder, DIN unit, etc and still work as a phone, but these mounts are primarily used for GPS style work?

may be wrong...

I have been trying to find one too, my requirements are to not block a vent, not block the line if sight (legality), not make me look like an Uber driver (eg not to bulky), not to cost a fortune and securely hold my phone. Haven't found one yet.

I tried multiple options, just ended up wasting my money till I bought a ram mount. Get what you pay for

Look at Steelie, small disc magnet approx 25mm fixed to phone/ case with 3m tape provided, 20mm ball mounted on dash the same way

I have transferred these mounts between vehicles, when you want to change it to a new car, just grab some dental floss and saw of the adhesive pad, clean up dash with a bit of adhesive remover (Disolvit) and you would never know there has been a mount there. For memory I reckon Total Tools stock them or they are available on line.

3M tape works well....if the surface is cleaned AND it is dead flat. Finding a dead flat part of the dash is hard these days !!

I got one of these a couple of years ago https://www.cygnett.com/collections/phone-mounts/products/magnetic-vent-car-mount

Came with 2 different size disks you can stick on the back of your phone or whatever, & also a larger plate that can go inside the back of the phone, but still stick to the magnet!

Works well for my phone (which is only used for GPS when driving ;D)

I swear by Quadlock. Have used the suction windscreen mounts in hire cars without a hiccup, but in the Jimny - before I replaced the stereo head unit for something with Apple CarPlay - I rigged up a Quadlock mount on a metal dash mount bracket and that worked a treat.
