Yeah Pottsy, it tends to have lots of resin and fault lines through it. Lots of nice colours come out of it too.

Well, not my shed, but I drove Austin Powers around to the shed of my mobile roadworthy guy.

Up on the hoist, dressed the rear beaver panel and welded in the new section of clean metal that came with the car.
Not a hard job, but he did do a nice job of it.

The little Austin is now rust free, so that made me pretty happy.

Clive put the car up to full height and had a good look over it. he was pretty impressed with the whole thing.
After all, he's the one who will tick it off at roadworthy time.... at least he got to see it, in its underwear.

Got my shed heating sorted for the winter works. Indirect diesel heater. I'll put a flu on it later to vent outside

In Queensland, to prep the shed for winter, we just buy a new flannelette shirt.  ???

Unless we leave the doors shut, then its just a T-shirt... but you know, if we have all the doors open etc, a flanny is good until around 8:30.
Too hot after that.  ;D

Pulled a couple of trolley jacks apart. They've been struggling to lift for a while, so thought I'd have a look.
Had one for about 40 years, and the other for about 20 years, so can't really complain.
Piston seals need replacing in both. Seems a new seal for the older jack might not be easy to source, but the other should be OK.
Fingers crossed, otherwise it'll be replacement time....

Or if that doesn't work out, Renhel Manufacturing (Renseal) will make them for you, their in Dandenong I use them all the time for work. Just make sure you take the piston and cylinder in with you for them to measure, but there's a good chance they will have them on the shelf

When I lived in Wisconsin for 10 years I had to take every bit of glue, paint, or any other liquid out of my shed and stick it in my basement in early October and leave it there until late April or May. Batteries too. One time I left a bottle of glass cleaner on the shelf thinking it'd be fine because it's mostly alcohol but it froze solid too.

All sorted thanks gents.

I machined the piston of the problem jack to accept a standard seal.

Both jacks are now back together and working like new again.

Not too bad today, the sun is out, haven't checked the temp, but around 8 would be my bet at the moment.
The wind is getting better as the day goes on.

I need to see if I can raise the steering column in the Austin.... it sits low like a go-kart.
After removing the 4 mounting bolts on the rack and pinion, it rotates up to a good spot.

I just have be sure, i can re-bolt the rack and have it mounted safely.

It does in the shed.... 1960 FB Holden, 1961 Austin and 1964 Cadillac in there at the moment, with a 1959 Ford Zephyr coming soon for some repairs to a door catch.

I'm like a cross between the Fonz, Elmer Fudd and Homer Simpson all wrapped up in one.
