Happy new year all
Looking at getting an annexe for caravan and have a few questions:
1. Vinyl or Canvas?
2. Anti Flap Kit recommended? I see some use Aussie Traveller type anti flap kit and some use ones with a type of adjustable wheel...is one better than the other?
3. Anyone owned a kakadu annexe? There is a rep close to me which would make it easier.

The annexe will be used for longer stays (like 3 weeks in the one spot) and also shorter stays (1 to 3 nighters)...as our kids are all in the annexe. For us, the easier to put up the better.

They look pretty good... very weather proof when enclosed, which would be great for 1-3 weeks in 1 spot... not sure about overnighters though.

Yep weather proof is important to us. But they don't appear to use Aussie Traveller anti-flap kits (which from my research are the way to go).

Do they have their own version? You say they are local, take a run down and have a look in person and see what you think of the quality in person... might help you make up ya mind :) Specially with kids sleepin in the annexe...

In the Kakadu Annexe URL I shared in my first post, go to the bottom of the page and in the first video at 1min 15sec you will see their anti flap kit. They are local to me in regards to a rep and placing orders. But they don't actually have any stock to view.

They custom make awnings and annexes and make a bloody good product. I have one of their 270 degree awnings and it's a ripper.

No, I have an anti flap kit on a different annex. I would have thought that an anti flap kit is designed to do as suggested by its name regardless of brand.

Definitely Vinyl over Canvas any day and with Kakadu Annexes you cant go wrong. They will come to you to fit. I've had three annexes from them but his time we are looking at a fairly simple setup for touring and will be going with the Anti Flap kit.

Hi John, I have read a lot of reviews that says vinyl is hotter and heavier...seems pretty unanimous from what I've read? Main benefit is easier to clean?
I'm leaning towards canvas top and vinyl bottom but ill do some more reading tomorrow.

My only thought is wet canvas sucks and gets heavy and you have to let it dry.. horrible after 3 days of rain it gets mega soaked ...

Our camper is all vinyl, including the awning. It is heavy but virtually indestructible. We have still have the first one we bought. Built around 1980 but the vinyl is still perfect. Considering it has always been stored outside in our climate, that is no mean feat.

Spent New Years at Bluff Creek up near Kenilworth. One of the vans in our group has a vinyl awning. Compared to the other canvas type awnings it was stinking hot to stand under.
