Am I the only one one that has Annoying ongoing troubles with 12v Air compressor hoses ..
Rubber [ or version of it ] Hose supplied with the Dr Air 150 psi compressor fails at the airline fittling to compressor .. Compressor pumps out some serious heat = Hose gets super hot, blisters then pops ..
Fitted quality coiled PVC / nylon what ever it is type airline " pop "
Fitted heavier duty wall reinforced rubber air hose section, to handle the heat, that lasted a while longer, but " pop " ..
So now Im thinking solid mounting the compressor, fitting a check valve and hard line to a small air tank [ modded 2 kg gas bottle or fire extinguisher ] to let the charge air to expand into and cool a little before being getting to the air hose [ might give the compressor a rest aswell ] .
Anyone done it ?

I hard mounted my ARB compressor in the back of the 4wd and ran a short hydraulic hose to the air fitting at the rear. Could do the same if using a portable box as well.
The hyd hose is approx 300 or 400mm long, but it's enough for the hot air to cool a bit before it gets to the plastic hose. Never had a problem with this setup.
If using a air tank, I'd use a "proper" tank and you would want a higher relief valve than 80psi. Most compressors have a shutoff valve at approx 100psi , so a relief valve at say 110 or 120 psi would be better.

You could try these stainless non return braided hoses. we've been running them for years and so far not an issue.
Bought them from the local 4x4 shop before they closed down, but I think you'd find them readily available. As gronk said, fit a real air tank, our cut off switch is 120psi and the blow off valve is about 150psi !

+1 for the braided hoses. Used to have the same issue with my hard mounted ARB compressor popping the line at the compressor. Ran a braided line from the compressor to my outlet at the back of my drawers and no more problems.

Found this mob, seems they have all the bits that will do the job for hard mounting the air, For under $200 its virtualy plug and play . Sorted .. Thanks all .

One thing I would mention is make sure you have some sort of drain in the bottom of your air tank to drain out the moisture build up, I have a hose running out the bottom of ours to a nitto fitting, then it's just a simple job to hook on an air gun and drain the bottom of the tank.

Ohh well not to worry, it will still do what I want .. Went with a 6 lt tank and higher pressure relief valve than whats in this kit . And yes a drain valve too, was only $8 ..

Head down to Pirtek and get some high grade rubber hose with braided ends made up. Cost about $25 with fittings and 10 minutes work. Hasnt missed a beat.

I was looking at the 4ltr kit but for $5 may as well go for the 6ltr, they are just down the road from me so will visit once we are allowed out.

I made one and stuck it in a box.
The accumulator/cylinder was a bit of an issue, gas cylinders and extinguishers have an odd thread and I couldn't find any fittings to mate with it. In the end I just drilled through the middle of the valve assembly and ran a 3/8th tap through it as I could easily find fittings for that. It worked pretty well as the extinguisher had a nice rubber O-ring on the valve head, something from the plumbing shop would have missed that.
I haven't gone the braided line to the accumulator as I haven't found I've needed it yet. Where the air comes out of the compressor I have a non-return valve, brass 4 way fitting, brass 3 way fitting, pressure switch, barbed connector, relief valve and a stainless Nitto fitting. That adds up to a fair lump of metal that works as an effective heat sink.
I also didn't add the drain tap as I don't use it enough to produce a lot of condensation, after all, its not a workshop compressor and I'm not painting.
I also added an inline tap at the end of the silicone air hose, so in between tyres you can turn it off and let the pressure tank top out at 115psi and give the compressor a rest for a bit. I think it makes a bit of a difference.

For a storage tank on my golf buggy I used a small fridge compressor tank. It's about 2l capacity, rated to about 500psi, and the copper plumbing is the right size to take the push on connectors.
