Having breakfast this morning and reading the Vegemite jar there is a symbol on it AFIC Halal Authority???
This is Aussie Kraft Vegemite.
Why does it need to be there?
Then looking at a few other things Sara Lee strawberry cheesecake has AFIC (The Australian Federation Of Islamic Councils INC)
I thought this was Australia.

B. Because vegemite, and a lot of our other "Aussie" brands, are now owned by international corporations.

I work in food manufacturing. And we are contemplating going full Halal. We already have a halal certificate for some of our products, but trying to manage the inventory of Halal and non halal meat,
The main reason we haven't as yet is breakfasts and the Love of Bacon in breakfast dishes.


That a product had been certified Halal doesn't mean anything has changes, more likely research shows that market share is dropping and if t hey can be certified Halal that it opens a large piece of the market which may have seen the product as not permissible to eat.

Yes you do need to pay for your halal certificates the same as you have to pay for any certification. But you as a business make a call do we want to include Muslims in our target market or not.....

I understand the point being made and there's no doubt they're tainted by the actions of their beliefs.
Having said that, some 50+ years ago our grandparents were faced with a similar situation and many of them would have then been on one side of the fence or the other.
Post war saw the greatest influx of european immigrants into Australia and many then Aussies felt the same way.
Refering back to my opening point and I'm sure it might raise some very polarised views, but there wouldn't be many people not agree that today we are a better smarter richer country as a result of the european multiculturalism.
It's a strong culture and I don't believe any minority will ever rule, but we should be accepting of everyone, including process and packaging labels if needed.

   I wouldnt be to confident its grown by an Aussie farmer .I work in the industry and the majority of our smallgoods containing pork, the pork is imported from OS the only way to be certain it isnt is if it contains bone

I don't eat fast food, but I would be surprised if it was true that the menu has been changed in Australian branches. Sounds like right wing propaganda to me. I would be happy to be proved wrong if anyone has a real source for this info.
