She shot to (her 15 min of) fame several years ago, certainly is talented. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-QdjnA2vtI

Hopefully she sticks with it then & develops her talent & songwriting skills. Get a good band behind her & strong songs & she'll have a good career.
Problem with those TV shows is they offer instant fame rather than earn it the hard way. The kids don't learn to work hard at it -  slogging it out on weekends doing pubs and events, building up grass roots support from fans who will follow your whole career.
Instead they get a single released via the tv show that appeals to the top 40 crowd who are fickle & will move onto the next big thing when your star fades a little.

Icehouse's Primitive Man is a cracker album. Still remember first time hearing "The Flowers". They were a new sound.

Cheers Glen

Saturday night, middle daughter flew out to Canada this morning, wife is in Tamworth for the CMF and youngest just got an uber to a friends place, going clubbing.
So just me and the dog, and lined up three things.

Giving John Butler’s new album “Home” another spin.

On our Christmas road trip we listened to his new podcast where he talks about the process behind each song. It’s really interesting to hear how a creative mind like his works.

Heard this live Thin Lizzy song (live and dangerous CD) for the first time on the radio a couple of months ago....quite a few versions of it around but this is the best I think.
I think it deserves to be right up there in the same company as the best 70’s rock ballads.

I'll call it a bit before my time...

But I'm really getting a taste for 'The Church' lately.   Great musicianship across their stuff...

Haha I would say that they are after my time. Saw them quite a bit in Sydney in the early 80's. Two gigs come to mind I remember (a bit hazy at that) was the Caringbah Pub and Selinas at Coogee.

We have to start thinking about what sort of a world we are going to leave for Keith Richards after we are all gone.

Nice, a little bit of a change from the Presets remixes that I've been listening to up til now this evening....  ;)

I've needed something upbeat to help me get through this extra over time that I'm pushing through tonight, trying to have everything ready for the boss's meeting with a big client tomorrow morning.
Just sent off all the data and info right now, so I'm unwinding with a Tennessee Honey and enjoying these chilled tunes. Thanks Rockrat.

Bit of a funny story how I came to be listening to Presets remixes this evening.

The Loved One, by The Loved Ones popped up in my discover weekly mix on Spotify this morning.
As I do when I hear a tune I know, but don't know the full story of the band behind it, I was reading their bio and on the side on the page I noticed it apeared on this playlist.....
I couldn't resist........ Just had to see what sort of goodness was hiding in there ;D

To my suprise it was actually a great mix of Aussie music.
Obvously some of the same old-same old "pub songs" that get flogged to death, but there was some real gems in there as well.
Rusty's playlist got me through the afternoon and one of the last songs was the Presets, which was exactly the sort of vibe I needed, so I've been listening to their full albums including all of the mixes to get me through into these early hours this morning.

So  to Mr Coight. I don't like your TV show much, but your Spotify playlist is a ripper....  8)

Glad I could help out!
I love the way Apple Music and Spotify help to introduce me to music that I would never think to listen to otherwise.

In the bush, I want to listed to the bush.  On the beach I want to listen to the waves.  On the street I want to listen someone coming up behind me.  Music I can listen to at home or at a concert.

Finally figured out how (or more the point bothered to try) to beat the Spotify system. ;D

The band Tool have taken a very vocal stand against all streaming services and refused access to any of their music.
I’m a huge fan, but I only listen to Spotify these days. So the only time a got to pump up their tunes was when I played music from an SD card that’s plugged into the head unit in my Triton. That was until today....

I remembered where I had saved the original mp3 files from the full Tool catalogue and synced that folder to my Spotify desktop app. Now I’ve just dropped my favorite tracks from each album into my playlists that I have downloaded on all of my mobile devises.

This has just highlighted how backwards the music industry is these days.
Now instead of the band getting some coin every time I play one of their songs on the streaming service that I pay for, they get nothing at all because I’m streaming their music from CDs I ripped years ago. ???

Why should they get some coin everytime you play a song, when you own the CD??
I have 65 GB worth of music I downloaded and feel no guilt at all, as I originally purchased the records. I'm not paying twice for the same product.

Can’t say I personally paid for every one of those CDs. ;) But I do personal know the guy that did buy them, if that makes any difference. ;D

Me and a few mates that are all music nuts got together when ripping CDs first became a thing and bought these amazing new external hard drive things and plugged them into each others PCs to share our files the old fashioned way...
I recall I needed 2 of the biggest external hard drives available at that time to save all of it.
