Reading this thread is funnier than the MDC vs Lifestyle thread  ;D

Some of the same members arguing as well  ;D

And it appears some of the same members offering no help at all.

Plenty of links and advice given in this thread.

Yet yours is lacking in both.  Imagine my surprise.

Maybe go and troll another thread instead.

And we are on page 10 for Windows 10.  ;D

Anyway, after reading this topic, it is my turn to have a question.
I bought a SSD and I would like to run Windows 10 from here, but also to keep Windows 7 on the HDD as it is now.
How does that work?

OK, since nobody replied I bit the bullet and have upgraded to Windows 10 on my HDD.
So far so good.
However, I tried to migrate to my new Samsung 850 Evo but got an error message: 205500 (0322BC): Failure to read source disk or something.
I ran check disk and tried again with the same result.
The weird thing is, when using Samsung Migration tool, the source disk is also titled 850 EVO SSD however with the correct size of 1TB.

Help.

Another reply to myself. :-)

The new SSD worked brilliantly....for 2 weeks.
I had the desktop running, Win10 installed all good.
One night I had to pick up my daughters and let  the pc running, all programs closed.
When I came back, the screen showed the start up screen before POST.
Now the SSD doesn't do anything.
It goes straight into Bios and it tells me to hit F1 to continue.
It went into checking and nothing happened.
I pulled out the SSD and everything runs.
Yesterday I pulled out the HDD and put the SSD back in (which had Win10 on it) and I got a black screen with some weird characters.
I connected the old HDD again and it started. Bios sees the SSD in SATA port but doesn't load.

Help.

Can you boot off the HD then access the SSD? Sounds like it's faulty.
Cheers, John.

I tried it again yesterday.
Attached are some screen shots.
One moment the SSD is detected: SATA3G_3: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB (see the first picture)
The other moment there isn't a SATA3G_3. (seethe second picture)
When connected, finally it boot and Windows 10 starts but when I wanted to see Explorer, it hangs.

Me thinks I would be taking it back where it came from. Having the SMART command fail and windows repairing it when booting are not good indications of a good drive.

Is that a bare wire i can see  >:D >:D >:D >:D
Moggy it was not the bare wires that worried me, it was the water leaking in the cooling that worries me. ;D
The bios needed an update, on the new board, not recognising the memory. Had to go back to 2133MHz not 2666MHz.

But now he has it going after sorting out the driver issue which was the nvidia experience network sharing, it goes well now.
I also now have a new windows pro 10 usb stick ready to install one day.

Checked yesterday, it was on AHCI.
I have also updated the bios, it was only 2 years old.
Haven't tried the SSD after the upgrade but before it was still no luck.

Downloaded Win10 on to our ASUS laptop a few months ago and have had no real issues. Only problem we have is the laptop cam shows up upside down when we are skypeing. The first time we did it, our 1 yr old granddaughter was quite intrigued and kept turning her head upside down to look at us.

We have an old USB cam that works ok so it wouild seem to be an issue with our laptop cam. We have looked on the ASUS and Windows sites but none of the solutions mentioned on there work. Anyone have a solution?

Cheers

Swapped the SSD for a new one yesterday.
A friend brought an external reader and the SSD showed up sometimes but most of the time it didn't.
I haven't tried the new one yet.

I downloaded Windows 10 about a month ago. All the printer drivers failed and had to be reset. Other than that, looks good so far.
