Gday all
Unfortunately our Tru blu ct will be on the market soon as my wife has recently had back surgery and can no longer get up to the bed unassisted, my solution at this point is to purchase a walk up style ct. The questions I have at this point--
(a) as the axle is set back about 400mm what increase to ball weight?
Tru blu mount the spare wheel off the tailgate to counteract but still believe there would be an increase
(b) durability and bellying out with the increased length between coupling and axle?
(c) How well dust sealed are the stairs?
(d) Is a hard floor ct a better option?
Hopefully there are some people out there that can assist
Please any advice greatly accepted as I am trying to avoid the dreaded Jayco!!!!!

I have had a Jayco and now have a Kimberley. They both require a bit of effort to get on the bed. I woud suggest with either, you would need to come up with some sort of step. I can help ou on the other q's

Both myself & my mate have the same brand CT except he has the staircase option and I don’t. If I could have afforded one I also would have preferred the stair option.
His trailer is 500mm longer than mine due to the stairs. I have my spare on the drawbar where the stair trailers have the spare behind the tailgate to help offset the trailer.
As for dust sealing he has a small door on the side of the trailer which he hasn’t had any problems to date.

I picked up a new Trackabout SV Extenda (this model has the walkway), and travelled from one side of Australia to the other, without any dust ingress through the seals especially on the drop down door (this forms the step).... but the vehicle towing the trailer leaked dust like no tomorrow, all over our furniture!

The Cub does not have steps too tall to be a problem. Maybe something like this.

The Nissan didn't leak....
It was the 4.5 tonne Isuzu truck! We ended up with spinifex on our mattress... and inches of dust through box and bag....

That could be a bit prickly getting into bed ;D. Bet it took a heap of cleaning out. Sounds like a good trip though

The Camel "Plus" trailers with the walk into bed feature aren't longer than the STD trailers. Camel relocate the spare to the rear to make extra space at the front.
The Bushman Plus is around 840kg and about 94kg on the towball. The step area is well sealed up against dust or water ingress.

Similarly have a look at the Lifestyle Extenda models - we're picking up one next week, and the main reason we went for it is the ease of getting in and out of bed without having to climb ladders to get to the kids at night. My 16 month old was crawling up and down the built-in fold down steps with ease. Photos of it are here (http://myswag.org/forum/index.php?topic=8420.0). Pretty sure the Trackabouts are now quite similar in terms of the walkway width etc.

The extra ball weight would be minimal, extra gear in the front box, for example, would contribute more. Besides, if this would get you out there with your wife, grab some airbags.

Only had the one CT so don't know about advantages / disadvantages of the extra length but our whole trailer seals very well, we have been along many dusty roads and not had anything in the trailer, also been through river with water a fair way up the walkway and real tailgate and had no ingress.
