Hi all,

I would just like to apologise for losing Australia this Test.

I just flicked Cricinfo on to check the score. 2/64, no bad me thinks, but while the commentary page was loading, Renshaw got out, then 3 balls later Smith went, so I turned it straight off. So, for the good of Australian cricket I won't be turning it back on.

Australia skittled for 137. Too long have the side relied on Smith me thinks....

Some people are producing a convincing argument that the result was never in doubt.
Always the Indians when they play a home game?
It's always embarrassing for the home team when the Visitors win.

Unfortunately a mostly evenly contested series looks like going down the toilet due to two bad sessions/innings of Aussie batting. That's cricket I guess.
Hopefully we can bowl 10 great balls and pull victory out of the clutches of defeat.

India still may lose, though very unlikely.
I have to admit to having a bit of a snicker when hearing the Aussies saying that "it is a tied test series and now the pressure is all on India"
Pressure........what pressure????

Na. Not possible. That would be illegal and we all know cricket has a spotless legal record.

They are a bunch of sooks but and not only do they produce doggy pitches they have a big say in world cricket. They should win when you add all that up plus the current aussie team are that that good, Yet.....   Kevin

Yes but we have to stop idolising flat trackers like Warner and start paying them by the run! Or contract him to play Home tests only and find batsman who can play in all conditions
Here for a good time, not a long time!

Easily apparently.

On the plus side, Vics are 238 in front with 8 wickets in hand. 2 days left of the final.

if it's not sorted by australia's scheduled tour of india in october, india will sue the a**e off cricket australia, just like they sued the west indies three years ago for cancelling a tour.

Was listening to the radio today and they listed the dollar figures players were offered in the Austraian team for both men and women, aswell as Sheffield Shield team amounts also...reckon I'm on the side of the ACB myself after seeing the pay rises that were knocked back.
Yes the players can make more money overseas then what is on offer (average of just under $1.5 million a year for men's Aussie team...$300K a year pay rise), but so could most of us if we choose to work elsewhere living away from home...it's your choice to make.

Yes, unlike the WSC days the players are not poor or being ripped off.  My mind wanders to the recent demise of Ch 10 > the bubble that is TV telecasting rights payments cannot continue to escalate forever, nor can the players expect it to.  I read somewhere that Ch 10 barely made a profit out of the 2016/2017 Big Bash yet the demands for TV were going to double....lol.
When is greed going to cease?  Unless the players can demonstrate that a certain faction or element of the cricket admin that collects these fees is profiteering then they are simply being greedy.  We're all entitled to bargain hard for the best possible deal in our wages, but when you have people knocking back pay INCREASES that amount to 5 x the average ANNUAL wage then you have to wonder if we are being told the whole story - surely a body of players could not collectively all be that dumb (unless they are Essendon AFL players, but that's another story itself).
Either way, they wont win any friends by striking considering they are in a very privileged position - their inflated incomes come from US ie the ad watching, merchandise buying, pay TV subscribing, match attending public.  And we want to see Ashes cricket this summer between the best sides, not our C team getting demolished inside 3 days whilst the cream of talent earn mega $ in the bash.

Those TV rights blow my mind in all sports... Billion +? How much are they charging for those 10 second commericals between goals/tries???
what happens to the game (any) if the TV networks get together and say "Get ****ed, we'll give you $500,000 and that's it"...
What happens then?

Best not think about it my  Myswag nemesis😂.....
You make a very valid discussion point. It highlights a trend that is not sustainable. The booming coverage rights spiral will not necessarily burst but it most certainly will not keep expanding . The players in elite sports that bring countless hours of entertainment to the masses deserve reward. No question. How much though is the point. As they are the cricketers could all be dropped next season and not worry. Thats a privelege. I fear i do not know enough about the whole scene to make any reasonable comment so will say no more.

This is now all getting a little silly. I'm all for principles but get a mediator in and get this sorted before they both do irreparable damage to the sport.

I haven't followed this too closely but I can't think of too many, if any, instances where employees think they are entitled to a set share of the revenue. I think I am siding with CA with this one, the players have been offered a decent pay rise on top of already very good money but knocked it back.  It's starting to have the appearance of a union official on a power trip, more interested in the fight than the best all round outcome.
