Top order failed again but Smith bought it home, nice innings by Faulkner at the death ;D

First time we have beaten SAF at the MCG too :cup:

Yep it was. Wade batted well too. Was nice to get the win with Smith making the highest score against S.A. at the G and Wade/Smith the highest 6th wicket partnership.

Still can't understand how the can keep Falkner out of the team like they do. Even the 1 test he played he took 6 fa and hit an entertaining 50. If a certain number 3 did the right thing by his country and retired problem solved!

Pity only 14,000 people turned up to see it...

That's got to be a record low for anything at the G in a long time.

Yep going to a lot of footy it was really noticeable how few were there, we had thought the crowd might of filled up more once people finished work but even then not a lot coming in. Was good to be there sitting front row for some cricket history

Glenn Maxwell needs to have his nick name changed from 'The Big Show' to 'The No Show'...

I reckon he threw his wicket away last night when all he had to do was rotate the strike to Smith. Maxwells wicket then started the collapse...

I can't stand the bloke, but James Brayshaw seems to think he is God.

Best commentary call yesterday was Brayshaw "oh and it's raining where the heck did that come from" little bit of silence then Taylor "well clearly it came from the sky"  hahahaha

Sad part is Watson and Marsh will keep Falkner out of the side in the world cup. Marsh deserves his spot, but its sad that Watson will push a truly talented alrounder out of the side. There has been many a game, including against the poms in Brisbane last year, would have gone down a a L instead of a W without Falkner's ability to bat out the impossible. Think Falkner is a better test option to IMO as he can both bat and bowl and usually do it consistently and in the same game!

Yep there certainly needs to be a bit more discipline brought into the side. Smiths attempt to belt it out of  the  MCG the other night to win reeks of ego the side doesn't need.
Here for a good time, not a long time!

never liked phil hughes as a batsman, but this is sickening for phil as a sportsman and very distressing for his family (who were in the stands when it happened) and teammates:

http://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/domestic-cricket/phil-hughes-hospitalised-after-being-knocked-unconscious-during-sheffield-shield-match-at-scg/story-fn5k3dxv-1227134415326

here's hoping he pulls through and gets back to playing cricket soon.

also, thoughts go out to the bowler as well.  just an unfortunate accident, but i'll bet he feels terrible.

Doesn't sound flash at moment with all the reports and dozens of vulture reporters

hasn't been many helicopters land on the SGC due to an incident.

had surgery now etc so see where that leads

Thoughts also with the young bowler... hope he is getting support

Holy crap...... I'm the same, didn't think much of him as a cricketer, but don't think he (or anyone for that matter) deserves this. Feel for the bowler also. Fingers crossed for Phil that he pulls through and thoughts go out to his family.

Not good for Phill at all  :'( :'( but I have always thought that batsmen really should not be wearing helmets ( tailenders facing quicks excepted) as a lot of them get lured into playing a shot that is potentially dangerous when they should just take evasive action

Hopefully this doesn't bring about some knee jerk rule changes. Might bring about some equipment changes though. They might go back to the motorbike style helmets like in World Series days. Lots of water to pass under the bridge first though.

Most importantly, hopefully Phil pulls through this.

Starc, Johnson, Harris, heaps of WA quicks, Cam White, the leggy from QLD staring in the t20s. Of the preferred IX there is probably only a couple I'd drop. Watson for Falkner. Haddin for anyone, though Luderman looks a likely type. Then there is Jimmy Pattinson, Pat Cummins, Siddle, Stoinis. Heaps to choose from.

I dont think anyone gets paid to be maimed or possibly lose their life also dont think Phils family or friends would like to be reading this at the moment
