Quicker and easier erection............of my CT...Help
« on: November 21, 2010, 09:33:02 PM »
When I go to erect my soft floor camper...the cross bar that holds ...what i would call the extra bit of the camper tent (eg the bit thats NOT over the trailer)..well this bar fits into two pockets on the floor..and does slow and hamper the erection of the camper a little.

I see some campers have this bar HINGED from the floor of the CT where the other bars that hold up the canvas of the main part of the CT that's sits over the trailer comes from.

ARE THERE ANY OF YOU OUT THERE that have a similar pocket pole system and manage to convert it to a pivot system..any images of how you made the pivot bracket and was it a success would be much appreciated...Kind Regards

Yep I do.

Heres the quickest way I can erect mine, it depends how you fold it also.

To fold up I remove the pegs then tip the first set of poles, the ones your worried about, upside down towards the camper then flip the lot up onto the trailer so basically your folding it not just moving it.

un fold it then peg the corners next to to the trailer then peg the othe corners. Doing it this way the tent is basic shape and the poles just need adjusting.

Does that make sense?

Cheers Pauly

Paully.,.you are a GEM...I get what you mean....Yeh.i never thought about folding over on itself....I always try and lift both and slide rather than top to the bottom and then pivot.
Im off to Bremer Bay this weekend camping..I will try your method.

So I gather you leave the poles in the pockets but collapse the tubes so that they small enough to fit on the camper still.and then fold?
If it works its little tips like that ..that makes CT life just a little easier..kind regards

Gtreat tip Pauly, I might give this a go myself. One thing though how do you find all the canvas, do you have trouble with bunching etc.

Cheers
