Hi,
Looking at building myself a hybrid camper and buying some second hand rims for it. The problem is understanding load ratings - I don’t.
Trailer when built will have a maximum weight of 2500 Kg but thinking tyres/rims should be rated above that.
I have been looking at some rims from a Toyota Prado. The currently have 265/70/r17 Tyres fitted. Obviously 17” rims.
The question - how do I know if they will carry the load?

From memory they are rated around 1750Kg.
Correction just checked some after market alloys and they are rated at 1120Kg - 1400Kg so would imagine the genuine Toyota rims would be similar.

From memory they are rated at 1750Kg
" each"

From memory they are rated around 1200Kg
Does the change mean you confirmed the load rating?
Thank you, by the way.

I visited Prado point, from memory I believed it to be the higher rating, on Prado point it mentioned after market rated at 1120Kg, looking at speedy wheels they showed
1400Kg for off road wheels, I would imagine genuine Toyota alloy would be rated similar, but I'll see if I can find out more.
Car label, so they have to be rated at least at this:
(Alloy rim)
Rim size 17x6 1/2 JJ is for a 265/65x17 tyre with a load index of 112 & "S" Speed rating (Max load not less than 1120kg)

Thanks, I have been able to find no threads anywhere that state this.

I believe speedy made the alloys for Toyota, from their website:
Speedy Grande 2
17 x 7.5 ET30 6 x 139.7 1180kgs
Hope this helps.

It certainly does.
Would appear they are a bit on the light side.
2360Kg for the trailer. Tare should be under 1800Kg. Might be a good short term solution depending on price though.
Thank you fo4 your help

Yeah, I run the on a Vista as they are the same as the car, they have handled hard off road tracks but Vista is around 1750Kg fully loaded.

ROH list the load ratings in thier advertising (read thier description in Overview in the link) https://roh.com.au/wheels/octagon/ .....these are the style rims (though mine will be all black) I'm supplying for our new purchase, 16" alloys don't meet the load rating i required, but 17" do....i was told they upgraded the 17" rims for the GVM upgrades they do on the Landcruiser these days
