Kylies this weekend
« on: October 20, 2009, 01:00:25 PM »
This was posted up on the aussieswag forum, but i think it was meant for here, if so if someone could get back to him i reckon you would be doing yourself a favour 8)

Hi.
I am a District Scout Leader in the Manning and we are planing a scout camp at Kylies beach this weekend and I have been told you are also camping at Kylies this weekend. Could you give me an idea on the number of camp sites you think you might need as if its a large number we might have to look at a different camp site for our scout camp. We don't need that much space but you might not want 40 to 50 kids running around your camp if you use a large portion of the park.
If you could contact me at dingo44@tpg.com.au or on 0403135557 or leave a post and I will check back.
cheers Robert (Dingo)

I just spoke to Robert (Dingo), he has kids attending the scout camp as well as being a District Leader.  I gave him the numbers we were expecting for the weekend, which didn't seem to put him off too much.  As per the previous post, he said that they were expecting 40 - 50 kids to attend for the weekend.   He also said that if space became and issue they may look at Diamond head, but with the numbers I gave hime he didn't seem too concerned.

I can see you in your swag down along the beach somewhere, chasing a bit of peace and quiet.

Big Jules better make that Hungi a bit bigger I think.

Don't mess with them Darren else you may find them practicing their knot tieing on you around a tree.

Just did a quick head count:-

18 Camper Trailers
2 - 3 Tents
38 Adults
27 Kids

40 - 50 Scouts

At worst 105 people.  How big is the Kylies camping area and how many toilets?  :-[ >:(

The web site says there are 70 sites at Kylies, not sure about how many toiltes but I can't imagine more then two for each sex.

I reckon we'd be better off without the scout group.

I know it says 70 sites, but how many times have you gotten into a lift made for 14 people, and wondered why 5 of you were filling it?

That said, I reckon Scouting is terrific, and good one them for getting out 'n about.

Big Jules we should have no trouble getting the fire started for that Hungi anyway.  And as far as activities for the kids are concerned I think the problem has been solved.

Your right Darren, from what I remember of the area its just an open space..  We now have a fairly large contingent arriving Thursday and through the day Friday so once they spot us and notice some of us sitting around in our underwear drinking beer they may decide its best to move on...... ;D ;D

I'll bring my bottle of Mekhong, after an hour on that I'll be naked, covered in mud running around the fire chanting, that should keep them away.  ;D
GU Patrol 4.2td with enough fruit to keep me happy for a while, Trackabout Safari, an old HSV as my on-road toy when the weather is fine and a 4.75m SeaJay for the barra.

Just realised what Mekhong is, I thought the name was familiar.  I still have a small bottle in my back room after my trip to Thailand.....the others have already been drunk.... :'(

Got an email back from the scout man, they are moving to the Gap camping ground and intend to leave you alone at Kylies

He also mentioned if you want to cook the hungi, then scouts are to sinewy and tough, but a nice 10yr old cub cooks up just fine

Enjoy :D
