Tentworld Windsor Garbage Truck Crash Info

(1/2) > >>

Jon Burrell - Tentworld:
Hi Swaggers,

I know many of you have shopped at our Tentworld Windsor store over the time, many of you might have seen in the news that we unfortunately had a garbage truck collide with the shop at great speed.  Tragically, the driver is dead. We've heard that the coroners report is stating that the driver had a brain aneurysm and was likely dead before impact.  Our hearts go out to his family who he's left behind so early.

Fortunately,  there were no customers near the accident and our team narrowly escaped.  One team member was thrown across the store room and suffered broken wrist, elbow and severe bruising.  The other team member narrowly avoided serious injury,  dodging flying rubble and has some bruising.

Our store has suffered some major damage and we're in discussions with our insurers & structural engineers as to what the next move is.  We are committed to ensuring we continue to service our customers as best we can, and will be looking to reopen ASAP.

When we know more I will update this page.

If you are normally a customer of the Windsor store, for the short term I ask that you consider shopping at our Brendale, Browns Plains, Ipswich stores or perhaps online.  We offer free delivery to the whole of Brisbane for orders over $89.   These orders are shipped from Toowoomba, so are generally only 1 or 2 days for delivery.

Thanks for your support!

Kind Regards & Happy Camping

Jon

Hope you guys get back on your feet soon. Placed an online order yesterday and it arrived today. Outstanding service keep it up.

Cheers Andy

BaseCamp:
Thanks for the updates, Jon.

A very tragic situation; I hope the garbage truck driver's family is getting plenty of support from family and friends...

I love shopping at your business, and always went to the Windsor store, which is a couple of suburbs away from my home...

Many uniquely available products - (such as  those kerosene pressure lanterns, so nostalgic!)...

Staff are always very helpful, and full of good advice....

Hope you and your team and the business recover in a reasonable time frame; in what is a very sad circumstance...

Hi MySwaggers,

Thanks very much for your kind words & concern.   As further update, the damage to the shop is seeming to be extensive and rebuilding will take some time.

We are in discussions with the insurer & real estate agents to find a temporary home for the Windsor shop.  We should be able to reveal the location of our new temporary home very soon.

It is worth mentioning, that all other aspects of our business are unaffected and all our other shops are still operating fine including our online division.  Your support through these channels in the meantime is very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Jon

A very unfortunate and tragic incident.

Saw your shop last week as the sister-in-law lives around the corner. They have sure had to do a lot of work to even get the truck out (saw it the other day also)
